Yesterday the Daily Express claimed that Chelsea had made Hammer Issa Diop their top transfer target with an imminent £40m bid lined up now that the transfer ban had been lifted. The article labelled an Exclusive by journalist Tony Banks claims that Diop also remains a target for Spurs.
Earlier this week Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol had teased that a football agent had told him that Chelsea were eyeing a deal for a Premier League rival’s centre-back, but he refused to confirm the identity of the player.
Following the Daily Express report yesterday, Solhekol revealed the player in question was Diop live on air.
“Issa Diop, that was the player that was mentioned to me on Monday,” he said on the Sky Sports Transfer Show.
“I’ve made a few more phone calls today, I’m being told that Issa Diop, we know what a great impact he had at West Ham United in his first season after he moved from Toulouse.
“Jose Mourinho spoke so highly of him after they beat Manchester United when Mourinho was manager.
“I’m being told today that it’s not a case of West Ham wanting to sell him, but if a big bid was made for him, every player has his price.
“That price would be about £50million, more than £50m and there is the potential for West Ham to sell him.
“That was the player we were talking about.”
………and, we’d like Kante and when fit we’d also like Harry Kane! But no one is gonna take us seriously. Because they want to KEEP their players.
Were ALSO not looking to offload Diop…….So this story has no legs!
forgot Fernandes. use every penny, every pound to build for the future. and Diop, in all honesty, is our future defensively. Oggy isn’t staying for much longer or better still, he won’t be maintaining the great performances for long. so Balbuena + Diop is a partnership to be cherished. and I mean cherished!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We must stop selling our future . The likes of for example ; Man Utd have always bought Thier way out to progress . We are not a rich club but , richness only comes from success .
So it should be high time we are building instead of selling . Man Utd were handed enormous and massive help from the sixties by a shed load of support by the the League following that horrible disaster . But enough is enough .
We must keep our future intact . We could be a big club in the near future but , not if we let our talent go to other clubs that have loads of big Money .
I feel that tonight against Sheffield United we have a good chance to see exactly where we are going … David Moyes will be trying his utmost and I reckon the team are behind him .
Win or lose there are positive signs. .
I remember a certain somebody saying : we are no longer a Selling Club … his name starts with D and ends with S .
Do u believe that to mean we will never selling anybody ever again Kevin?
I guess he is basically stating the fact that we are no longer selling our best to get money in return. We are building for the future not for the income.
If it is £40mil, get rid; he ain’t that good, IMHO
€ 45 m….sold to the first bidder… Cahill was available on a free… 🙄🤔
We haven’t been a selling club for a long time so i don’t get why people are saying that?
