Report: Hammers eyeing 20 y/o

|

West Ham are eyeing a move for 20-year-old striker Junior Adamu, according to a new report from The Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Hammers and Southampton are both keeping tabs on the Red Bull Salzburg forward, who enjoyed an exceptional season in Austria.

An Austria international, with one cap, he scored nine goals in the 2021/22 season, including a strike against Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stages.

Adamu plays as a central striker and would cost around £12m, with there also being interest from Ajax and Hertha Berlin, along with RB Leipzig.

Leipzig, of course, are under the same RB umbrella as Salzburg, so one has to assume that they would be leading the queue to sign the forward.

Brighton have also had a look at Adamu but it remains to be seen if any club will be able to beat Leipzig to the punch, given their almost familial relationship with Salzburg.
