Report: Hammers linked with right back loan

|

West Ham boss David Moyes’ hopes of announcing some new arrivals appear to have been given a lift as a possible loan deal for a new right back is reported this morning.

For according to  90min West Ham are leading the  race to bring right back Djibril Sidibe back to the Premier League

Sidibe spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Everton, where he made 25 appearances in the top flight and it seems the former Toffees boss David Moyes may be ready to bring the 28 year old in from Monaco.

90min say West Ham currently lead the chase to secure Sidibe’s signature, but Wolves and Newcastle are also eying up the defender.

Sidibe’s current club are prepared to let him head out on loan again this season, but only if a permanent deal is included as part of the move.

That of course is usually the case but much is going to depend on whether James Tarkowski finally makes the move to the London Stadium from Turf Moor.

The Hammers have made a final bid believed to be worth £35 million for the 27 year old but the  manager is also known to be eyeing other targets should that not happen

Moyes initial plan appears to be that the Burnley should the defender arrive he is as capable of playing at right back as in central defence.

But he has made it clear that there could be a ‘mix of permanent and loan players arriving before the window closes and the Sidibe option would appear to have legs given the uncertainty over Tarkowski’s possible arrival.

Everton had the option to purchase the player at the end of his loan spell, but opted to not take this up.

The 2019/20 season was Sidibe’s first playing outside of his native France. The right back began his career with Ligue 2 outfit Troyes, before earning a move to Lille in 2012 after helping his boyhood club to promotion to the top flight.

He joined Monaco in 2016 and enjoyed a stunning debut season with the club. Monaco won the French title for the first time in 17 years and Sidibe was an integral part of their success – being named in the Ligue 1 team of the year.

The World Cup winner’s contract expires in 2022, but he started Monaco’s season opener against Metz and was praised for his display by boss Niko Kovac.

I wonder why Everton didn’t take up their option to buy ? He is terrible

A big No, he is not a defender, I cannot understand if we looked at his performances last year at Everton how would anyone sign him. He is little or no improvement on Fredericks and that is a fact. He is slow and cannot get back. I would be very disappointed to sign him and would go against what Moyes has been saying about only buying or loaning top players. A complete waste of time and money and if it happens it just shows up Moyes big time. Ourtwo young full backs in Johnson and the young lad that came on the other night are better than this guy, that is a fact.

I thin we are more in need of a left back!!!

Both Arsenal goals came from the RB position.Left looked better with the new set up.

Wouldn’t worry he is about the 100th player we have been linked with on here and we havnt signed any of them , so just more speculation and talk

Very true.Once the attempted Tarkowski tranfer falls to pieces we will be scrambling around for last minute deals like some mad thing at the boxing day sales as its always the way with West Ham.We do need a RB but not him.Why did Everton not take up their option on him and why are Monaco looking to offload ?.Should always be wary when clubs start offering players as its usually cos they are useless.
