Report: Hammers want PSG ace

|

West Ham want to do a deal for Mauro Icardi this summer, according to a new report in Italy.

The PSG striker appears to be available for transfer in this window, with Il Mattino claiming that there is interest in signing the Argentina international from both the Hammers and Wolves.

Icardi is 29 and has somewhat struggled for minutes throughout his time with PSG, as he is a rotation option for the club.

He made 10 starts in Ligue 1 last season, scoring four goals, and he has a contract that runs until 2024.

Icardi is said to have interest from the Premier League, with PSG keen to cash in on the striker as they attempt to bring in further reinforcements.

They are attempting to buy Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo and, as a result, Icardi simply isn’t needed.

He is valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt and the two Premier League clubs are said to be keeping a close eye on developments with the Argentine, who has won eight caps for his country.

Obviously, his wages would be an issue, but the Irons really do need to sign a new striker this summer.

His wages will probably be through the roof so unless it’s a loan deal highly unlikely, if he was available though, yes please, great player.
