Report: Irons keeping tabs on lower-league star

|

West Ham are keeping tabs on Fleetwood Town midfielder Paddy Lane, according to a report from the print edition of The Daily Mirror, via West Ham Zone.

The Hammers are said to have sent scouts to watch Lane on numerous occasions this season and they have been impressed with his performances for the League One club.

This season, the 21-year-old has made 36 appearances, playing in a variety of positions; he can play in central midfield, on either wing, or in attacking midfield.

He has scored five goals while also registering eight assists, and he has been nominated for the League One Young Player of the Season award.

The report states that the Hammers view Lane as a potential understudy to Jarrod Bowen, who has imposed himself on the Premier League after his own move from a lower-league club.

Lane has recently been called into the Northern Ireland senior squad and appears ready to take the next step this summer.
