Report: Pellegrini “not convinced” by Arnie in training

|

Pellegrini is believed to have given Irons green light to sell Arnie if valuation was met!

West Ham are continuing talks with Celta Vigo despite Marko Arnautovic’s change of heart in deciding to stay at the London Stadium.

The news that the maverick striker is ready to stay at the club has received a mixed reception on the forums despite the striker’s plea to let the bubbles fly.

Many still believe he will be on his way whilst others would have not been entirely unhappy to have seen him leave now so long as Gomes  could have been brought in.

However, as that was impossible given he was unavailable until the summer both the manager and board decided there could be no Arnautovic departure until the end of the season.

That looks entirely on the cards and is supported by a report from Jacob Steinberg in The Guardian who regularly shows himself to be a source we can trust when reporting the background to tricky situations at the London Stadium.

And today he writes: “Pellegrini had not been convinced by Arnautovic’s efforts in training this week and is understood to have given the club’s board the green light to sell the striker if their valuation was met.

West Ham are open to letting Arnautovic leave in the summer and remain in talks with Celta over Gómez, whose contract contains a £43.5m release clause.

The Spanish club, however, are battling relegation from La Liga and want to keep the 22-year-old. Intriguingly, one possibility could be a deal being done in this window before loaning him back until the end of the season.

Bigger teams were probably circling like vultures around Gomez waiting to put offers in on him in the summer. So makes sense to buy him now and loan him back for the rest of the season to aid in their relegation struggles. It also feels like that’s the honourable thing to do both for us and for the player himself.

The way Pellegrini has dealt with this situation is pure class – are we lucky to have such a fantastic manager. The guy takes no truck at all. He has been very clear to everyone on the situation and has shown Arnie exactly what’s what. Well done and congrats Pele – if only you could have been around during Payet’s time

Pay the contract clause and get Gomez in, stop mucking around, Gomez is good already at 22 but he has the potential to be an absolute superstar, unlike Anderson who is already rounded Gomez has plenty of space to grow as a player, his touch can be improved as can his movement, when you add that to his already good awareness and direct running he could be worth double what we pay for him in quite a short time.
