According to a report from Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham has re-ignited their interest in Swiss international Steven Zuber, having been previously linked with the 27-year-old back in 2017 under Slaven Bilic.
TMW says that the Hammers want to sign Zuber for a fee of around £6million, with his contract at TSG Hoffenheim set to expire in the summer of 2020.
The Irons are likely to face competition from Serie A duo Lazio and Roma, as well as French club Nice.
Zuber played for parent club Hoffenheim in the first half of the season but a loan move to Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart back in January has seen him hit good form.
The 27-year-old has started 13 games for Stuttgart since January scoring 5 goals and making one assist.
The Swiss international has scored six goals and two assists in 26 appearances so far for the whole season between the two clubs.
Hoffenheim are keen to sell before the player becomes a free agent next summer.
Remember what happened to the last player we signed from Hoffenheim on a free? Havard Nordtveidt!
I like Zuber. Tho I wouldn’t mind giving our Swiss international Edi Fernandes a go either.
I was very confused we sent him on loan with buyout especially so low. Bc he has the size & ability to be a Kouyate who can pass. He was just always played all over. Done well for Viola the change in Manager could see him come back tho & given chance.
See were a linked with Okay Yukoslu now. I was screaming to get him last summer been cheap at £7m & on lower wages then Sanchez. He is tidy passer but tall enforcer top who can also strike from distance
