Hammers duo Arthur Masuaku and Sofiane Feghouli are both summer transfer targets for Italian giants Roma, according to reports in Italy.
Italian football news outlet CalcioMercato claim that the Italian side are in the market for a full-back and have earmarked West Ham’s 23-year-old left-back as a potential target. Signed in the summer of 2016 from Olympiakos, Masuaku has made 13 appearances in the Premier League this season. Contracted at the club until 2020, the defender has been competing with Aaron Cresswell for the starting XI berth on the left side of the Hammers’ defence.
Claret and Hugh have learned that there remains interest from Roma in Feghouli with the club ready to accept the right offer for the Algerian who signed on a free transfer from Valencia last summer. In the January transfer window, Serie A side Roma want an initial loan move for Feghouli with the option to buy at the end of the season but the deal was never concluded.
The Algeria international Feghouli has endured a frustrating campaign for the Hammers, making 19 appearances in the Premier League, often from the bench, and was shown a straight red card 15 minutes into his first league start in the 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United back in January.
They can have Feghouli! But Masuaku stays!
Masuaku should definitely stay , he’s been getting better as the season goes on and when he gets up the flank and approaches their box he’s got a few tricks up his sleeve to get past last defenders! He’s had a bit of bad luck with injuries and had he been available all the time I think he would have been quite special. Feghouli has been questionable, early season he was very bad , running like a maniac, sometimes straight into defenders!! However there has been improvement , and I must say although we were , as a team , abysmal on Sunday , when Feghouli came on he was really quite superb. On balance over season I think I’d let him go !
