Romano: New signing closing in

|

Emerson is set to be confirmed as a West Ham player.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Chelsea defender is closing in on a move to the Hammers after the official paperwork was signed by the two clubs.

The Irons have tabled a £13m bid for Emerson, which was accepted a couple of weeks ago.

The deal had threatened to fall apart over his personal terms but the Irons returned to the negotiating table in order to finalise a deal.

Emerson now appears likely to make the move to the London Stadium with an announcement expected this evening or early tomorrow.

He has been with Chelsea since 2018 but went on loan to French club Lyon last season, making 36 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The full-back has played 33 times in the Premier League and has also won 27 caps for Italy, playing a key role in their Euro 2020 triumph, as they beat England in the final on penalties.

I can’t explain why I just can’t bring myself to get excited by palmeri , feel underwhelmed . Obviously I want him to be fantastic but no real excitement ⚒

The players we’ve not been excited about have proven to be the better players we’ve purchased over the years.
