Sakho arrives on knockdown deal

|

SakhoDiafra Sakho has joined West Ham for a knockdown £2.5 million.

That could eventually rise over the terms of the four year deal to £6.5 million although a source quipped: “That would need him to make a zillion Premier League starts.”

And ClaretandHugh understands the former Metz striker has agreed personal terms in the region of £17.5k a week.

The Hammers went back in for the player after it became clear that Connor Wickham would be likely to see out his contract at Sunderland when he would be on a free transfer next summer.

And it’s possible that he may become a target at that stage.

Sakho, however, had always been a serious target and although the terms of the deal being suggested initially by the Hammers changed, the deal was never truly dead.

And once the Irons pulled out of the Wickham deal they were quickly back in touch with the Sakho camp and had the deal done in a matter of hours yesterday.

I think this guy comes with a real hunger to do well and with the last two seasons confidence under his belt could be a real find. I know his 43 goals have been in lower leagues but scoring is a habit and he looks strong, agile and has an eye for the goal, so could be a great but of business; but he must be played.

Spot on mate! Couldn’t agree more with you. If he has the eye then goals will come but at the moment I would settle for him being a threat when he comes on and not a waste of space as Mogadon clearly is! COYI!
