Scamacca rumours lost on Moyes

Speaking to the press ahead of the FA Cup clash against Manchester United, David Moyes was tight lipped on the gossip surrounding Gianluca Scammaca’s West Ham future.

Either the Hammers boss knew nothing at all about the strikers dismissal by his agency or he did a very good job of hiding it.

What began with a very public falling out with his representatives who cited ‘trust issues’, finished with the Italian press claiming he was unhappy in East London.

Moyes appeared to be unmoved by the day’s rumour mill and instead chose to confirm the £35m summer signing’s involvement against Manchester United.

“Our Italian striker’s getting a little bit closer to what we want. He’s still working on his football and his fitness.

“He’ll certainly be involved, I don’t really feel he’s quite ready yet but he’s getting closer.

I don’t have loads of strikers but we’re going to need all of them in the coming weeks, whether they start or come off the bench.”
