Someone’s thrown a scarf – “Call the police!”

|

tgaleTony Gale has talked about the London Stadium becoming a powder keg.

Tony Cottee has claimed that if something isn’t done about the situation he fears a return to the dark days of hooliganism.

I have no problem at all with former players earning a few quid from the media but those remarks were way over the top given that what we saw last Wednesday evening was little more than a shower of coins without a single punch traded.

Oh somebody threw a scarf. Blimey “Call the police!”

BothCotteeheadphones TG and TC are admirable men who have featured on this website at various times and they are guys for whom we have great admiration.

However, I want to believe that perhaps they have been carried along with all the hype driven by a media machine which knows no limits once the foot is put down.

I don’t like to be critical of our own but at what is a very sensitive time I’m not sure that bandying such words around is overly helpful.

I will not downplay the events of Wednesday evening but if I am entirely honest I believe it has been very much a storm in a teacup not helped by mobile phones with inbuilt cameras, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The club has this morning announced new security measures which look likely to take care of the issues so perhaps it might be a good idea for everybody to let those who have an intimate knowledge of the problems to get on with it.

We’ve all had a say one way or another – now let’s get on with the football.

Loool you will be in trouble with that headline Hugh,it aint what the drama queens want to read at all.Give them guts, gore & chelski fans rappelling into the stadium out of helicopters carrying AK 47s 😀

“Little more than a shower of coins without a single punch thrown”
    Really?
Isn’t that statement alone downplaying the events of Wednesday?

    • Nope, it’s actually what happened

      • Hammertime Mikey says:

All those stewards and old bill in riot gear holding back them mobs of West Ham and Chelsea fans, preventing them from having a ruck, never happened then?
You should be condemning thugs that throw coins rather than being critical of ex players and attempting to play it all down.
It’s no laughing matter that’s for sure.

        • RickHammer says:

Oh get off your high horse John Wayne. Not every bloody West Ham supporter needs to turn it into a major drama like you or your lot.
We all know you love a drama over there.

  • Eddie says:

Yes i would have guessed it isnt a juicy enough headline for you & your mob on the sister site Hammetime Mikey. You need drama & a stick to beat Brady with all the time dont you hehe

Rumors say that new useful branded products will be available in the official store: army camo, hand granades, night vision goggles, bazooka and ninja stars… special offer for a limited period: radioactive lethal coins… loool 😀

  • Tone not Tore says:

Ha eddie. You know what there like on there. They will still be moaning about the bloody stadium in 10 years time or turning every incident at the LS into a major incident.
I have used forums for years,i remember when the millwall trouble happened in 2009,fewer forums & blogs about but because it was at UP the reaction was very low key amongst our fans, almost joked about that Millwall got what they deserved
Now because this happened at the LS some of our fans want to turn it into something worse, based on the chance to rip into the new stadium.Any chance they get they will build it up to the max.

    • Stan The Man says:

I have given up reading any sites without current news Tone.I mean how times do you need to read the same person say its an athletics stadium not for football or the same ones telling you they dont like the view, the same ones spouting off about missing Upton Park lmao.
We kind of get that after they tell us for the tenth time

  • GW says:

I’m more concerned that the bubbles from the bubble machine might float into someone’s eye and cause serious injury. Maybe i should write a strongly worded letter to the Daily Mail to make them aware of the severe health and safety risk this poses 🙂

  • Stan The Man says:

What about popcorn dunked in cola, that could be lethal when thrown lmao

    • GW says:

True Stan we need to start a petition immediately to remove the deadly popcorn from being sold 🙂

      • Stan The Man says:

It wouldnt have happened at Upton Park GW.The mystic aura would have protected everyone

        • GW says:

Your right Stan until the mystical aura drifts over to the new stadium we must be on guard to protect ourselves from low flying popcorn and plastic bottles 🙂

          • Alfie says:

Maybe the vendors in the stadium can start dealing exclusively in chocolate coins.Im sure it will help the LS become a safer place instead of the warzone it is now..in some girlie fans minds 😉

  • essexclarets says:

when you first watch the trouble I agree that it does look bad. If anybody in the media bothered to watch it a few more times though they would see that what it really was.
you can’t pretend that the coin & seat throwing was anything else, but that happens at so many games every week. It didn’t help that the whole incident was back lit by the big screen.
Those poor little choir boys from West London hiding behind their seats, wetting themselves because of those big bully boys from West Ham. Why aren’t the media attacking Chelsea or M’boro over their supporters? There were FOUR arrested against M’boro…. 2x M’boro fans, 1x Drug related & 1x WHU… and in the great riot of London 2016….. Seven were arrested.
who do I blame? well Brady of course. She is the devil incarnate after all & we have to blame her for everything. if the club sack her or ban her from the stadium then nothing would happen!!!

  • Alfie says:

No laughing please. Its not a laughing matter.
Yeah right, like being doom & gloom on a west ham site is going to change anything.
Sackcloth & ashes tomorrow please chaps for the sin of not being drama queens 🙂
