Sunderland move for Hammers contract rebel Mubama

Sunderland are reportedly eyeing a move for West Ham striker Divin Mubama in an attempt to bolster their struggling forward line.

Mubama, a product of the West Ham academy, is set to become a free agent at the end of the season after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract. Despite his potential, Mubama has found opportunities limited under David Moyes, often playing second fiddle to Danny Ings when Moyes opts to use a striker as a substitute.

Sunderland already have a positive relationship with West Ham, having previously signed Pierre Ekwah and Aji Alese. If Sunderland were to secure Mubama’s signature, a tribunal would determine the transfer fee.

Scoring goals has been a major challenge for Sunderland this season, hampering their chances of mounting a serious playoff challenge. Last season’s top scorer, Amad Diallo has departed after his loan expired.

Winger Jack Clarke has stepped up, netting 15 goals in 33 league appearances. However, the lack of support from traditional strikers has been evident. Sunderland’s four primary number nines managing just three league goals between them. However, in some instances, players like Alex Pritchard and Jobe Bellingham have been preferred in attacking roles.

Clarke remains a transfer target for West Ham with Tim Steidten actively looking to recruit a winger and striker during the next transfer window.

Not surprised Moyes never gives youngsters a chance. I don’t know why youngsters sign up to the Academy as they must know they won’t get into the first team.
