Niall McDonald hands out the official CandH ratings for the Irons

Winston-Reid-714445Adrian: Three magnificent close range saves in rapid succession before the break and very comfortable after it. A point deducted for some aimless long clearances 7

Byram: Played well, again. Guy behind was correct “he just needs to look a bit more confident in himself” 8

Reid: Double-shift marshalling our defence and keeping an eye Kane. Didn’t miss a clearing header 9

Fonte: Best game yet. Every now and then he finds himself upfield and turns into a really tidy footballer too 8

Collins: Spurs’ increasingly desperate long balls to Kane and Janssen were meat and drink for Ginge 8

Cresswell: I still miss him bombing forward but he was very good in defence tonight 7

Noble: Back in the side for one of his last (?) London derbies, the skipper looked most comfortable in the closing stages 7

Kouyate: Cheik knows the drill in these sorts of heroic performances. Harried and fouled when he needed to. Cleared it when he needed to 8

Lanzini: Seems to have unlimited energy and drive matched to quality on the ball. Deserved to get the winner 9

Ayew: Put in a decent defensive shift before the break. Credit for an assist and a slow trudge off when subbed running the clock down 7

Calleri: Battled heroically up front for 85 mins. Looks decent when the ball’s played in for him to roll the centre-halves. Crowd couldn’t will his chance to settle it into the net though 8

Subs:

Snodgrass: A few options on the bench tonight and Snodgrass was first off it. Nearly conjured a second with Fletcher at the death 6

Fletcher: Nice little cameo. One of our most popular players, shame he doesn’t play more!! 6

Fernandes: Arrived in stoppage time for the win bonus No rating

As a team it was 10/10 Individually would have given Adrian an 8 he made a couple of really great saves other than that the scores I would agree with COYI !!!

Creswell did bomb forward and supplied the cross for the winning goal!

Credit where credit is due, Calleri put in a proper forward performance tonight. At long last, the boy has come of age. Maybe, just maybe, he has a future in English football after all.

Other than that, I am lost for words.

Brilliant display. No more needs to be said…..except, why don’t we play like this more often?
We’ve proved we can do it against the best. The challenge has to be to do it regularly. Every player gets an 8 , or above, from me for their performance tonight. I can find no faults in any of them. A special mention for Calleri. On the basis of his display tonight, I would keep him at the club. Until today, he has done nothing. But, today was different. He can do it after all !

Henry was brilliant in post match analysis..saying that Spurs were not as bad as we were that good tonight..

  • Stan The Man says:

All the lads were worthy of top marks after tonight.I was really pleased to see the great receptions Calleri and Ayew got going off they worked their socks off.

I can’t believe I missed this game for a wedding reception, gutted. Just watched highlights on Sky coyi love it

Calleri is there a player there waiting to come out hold the ball well is strong and can pass desperate for a goal do we keep him or not

  • Hammer64 says:

Agree Calleri did a great job tonight, but the lad can’t hit a barn when he up is standing inside it. Cannot see that changing. Guess he will have to play in the last two so perhaps a final chance to prove himself.

We should sign Calleri, I have been saying it all season this guy has class. He needs a second forward up top with him and I think Sakho and him could make a great combination. With Calleri,Sakho and another top striker with Carroll as an impact player then we are in great shape up top. We need another 3/4 players in addition to a striker, still need a top right back, another top midfielder someone like Sigurdson and one wide player. I hope we keep Adrian but if not I would sign Hart.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Agree Callieri and Sakho would be a good team, he needs raw pace near him, so he can hold it up and release the other strikers or midfielders, he showed in Brazil he could score all sorts of goals he is just playing low on confidence so hopefully now we will see him do the same for the next two games and not a Zaza after the Palace game.

Can’t say I agree with so many of the ratings, not the same match I was at, even though I accept we all have different opinions, these are quite strange compared to national media and why is one our own clubs best forums trying to indicate that this could be our club captain Mark Noble’s ‘One of his Last Derby Matches’ I find it unbelievable!
