The Rice debate ENDS HERE!

|

We’ve all had a say and now it’s time for everybody to take the pressure of Declan Rice and let the lad make his decisions.

Board critic Nigel Kahn was given access to these pages to offer his view last night and that can be read at https://www.claretandhugh.info/board-critic-gives-his-rice-contract-verdict/

And as far as Sean and myself are concerned that is the end of the Rice coverage on ClaretandHugh until or unless there is something decisive to write about his international and contract futures.

Frankly we, like many others, have had enough of  pundits old enough to know better and probably with kids of their own, either slagging him off, offering him advice or supporting him.

Yes, we’ve had our say. West Ham related sites have every right to offer a view because he is a vital component in the team but pundits using the subject to earn a few bob can do one as far as we are concerned as of now. That’s over and we apologise for bringing them to your attention!

We have our own view and it coincides with Nigel’s that “… he looks set to go to the top of the game, but that doesn’t mean he can hold the club hostage on his wage demands. In fact, the offer of basic wage with extra for every appearance he makes for the first team is actually the right path to offer as it incentivises him to keep performing at the best level with a view to earning the money he thinks he deserves.”

Declan has – as Nigel says – the potential “to become one of the best Hammers the club has ever seen.”

But enough has been written and said for now so there will be no more reportage here of Declan until definite decisions are made on his contract and international fronts.

We need to let him get on with his game free of any pressure he may feel. The drawbridge is up!

Personally I were him, I’d have the right hump that my contract negotiations had been leaked. In my book that’s bang out of order.

    Are we allowed to comment?

Very well said , Hugh . In fact I think it should have been sooner , but better late than never . I wrote an item on C&H the other day regarding pundits and everybody else getting involved in Declan’s life . His decision making process is his own private affair , full stop . He will announce his decision on his very private affairs when he is good and ready . Hopefully all this invasion into his privacy doesn’t and won’t affect his game .

Why does our club still have leaks ? during the transfer window at times nothing before the player was signed, others just guessing, but some were leaked.
With Declan however the inside knowledge seems correct,I’m beginning to think someone picks what to let and when.COYI
