Tomkins Palace deal NOT done

Shoud he stay r should he go!

West Ham have tonight denied that a deal has been done which has seen James Tomkins join Crystal Palace.

Palace and former Irons boss Alan Pardew is a big admirer of the 27 year old who we first reported to be at the centre of a bidding war last month by ClaretandHugh.

But although the Mail On Line is tonight saying the deal with Palace has been done at around £12.5 million for the 27 year old central defender the news is premature and they have jumped the gun..

Both the Mail report and those jumping on the story as if it were nailed on fact, will have to hold on a while for the deal to happen.

Claret and Hugh’s most senior and highly placed insider told us within the last few minutes (Fri):  “The deal has not been done and it will be less than the reported £12.5 million if it is.

He added: “He might go there. The fee is a a bit less. We have lots of players in his position plus two good young ones(Burke and Oxford).

We reported last summer that Tomkins would eventually be on his way as Slaven Bilic reorganised his defence and on Jume 17 we made it clear the club had snubbed bids of £8-£9 million https://www.claretandhugh.info/bidding-war-for-tomkins/

Keep reading that people are moaning that West Ham aren’t spending any money… the transfer window has only just opened today.
sell Tonks & bring on the youngsters, he has been a good player for us over the years but is another one who is going to be left behind.

Hope the money buys a good replacement, don’t understand people running Byram down when other clubs want him,
We need a good right footed CH the Byram and Antonio would not struggle when defending ,Cressie has it easy he always has cover with Ogbonna or Reid being left footed,
So Benteke is gone Wilson has gone Carltons looking sa strong bet now, don’t think we should let any forwards go until we bring in better players,
Jensen,Icardi,Bacca, starting to look like the only ones left,
Gomez only as good as what we have,

Farewell Tomkins – Been good at West Ham for Many years and I for one will wish him well at his next Club – a bit sad but I feel that West Ham are starting to move in the right direction and I think we can get some good players to replace him and Collings ( when he retires/moves on ) and as the article states we have some great Youth players coming through who must be given the Chance – All looks good , just want that Big Name striker !!!

If Tomkins is sold, we urgently need to buy at least 1 top quality CH. Ogbonna, very hit and miss, easily knocked off the ball for his size. Collins, love him but lacks pace. Reid, needs to get back to previous form. Oxford, Reece, untested. But I trust Slav to get it right. COYI

  • sirgeoff says:

Oops, meant Burke, not Reece. Back to bed for me

  • Cranhamhammer says:

We need to give Oxford first team football or he will be OFF, selling Tomkins makes a space for Oxford. The same with Samuelsen and a few others.
We are buying a lot of young exceptional talent, but they will all want first team football within a few years.
