West Ham have released an official statement to confirm Dimitri Payet has signed a new long term contract with West Ham which will keep him a Hammer until 2021.
On WHUFC.com the club website says
“West Ham United are delighted to announce that Dimitri Payet has signed a new long-term contract with the Club.“The outstanding France playmaker, who has made a huge impact in Claret and Blue since arriving from Marseille last summer, has penned a deal until the summer of 2021.”
“The 28-year-old, who has scored six Barclays Premier League goals, chalked up six assists and averages a formidable 3.7 key passes per game, is delighted to have pledged his long-term future to the Club.”
“Payet has become an instant fans’ favourite since joining the Hammers in June 2015, earning widespread praise and respect and becoming the subject of English football’s newest and best terrace chant!”
That’s the end of that then until Man City offer £45 million for him in the summer ?
Or PSG offer the same and the call of France pulls ,
If he has a European Tournament like I think he will his price could go through the roof then we will see if he is not for sale,
But hasn’t every report on here insisted for months that Payet’s original contract was absolutely watertight and unbreakable.which raises the question “how solid is this one which replaces the previous ‘solid’ contract”?
In reality, it doesn’t matter how water tight a contract is if a player’s head is turned. They can put in a transfer request or not put enough effort in, some will exaggerate injury for a move mentioning no names.
We need to play the game and keep players and agents happy. This is what I think we have tried to do here as a reward for a good start. Is the contract water tight? I would imagine there is some release clause at some massive amount, agents always try to put them in nowadays to earn some future coin but if he remains happy he will stay.
