West Ham deny striker signing ‘plan’

|

Edin Dzeko is NOT  on Manuel Pellegrini’s wanted list and contrary to many reports in the media today has not agreed personal terms with the Irons.

The story has been doing the rounds for weeks but reached a peak today with numerous outlets claiming the striker had agreed to personal terms and was on his way to the club this summer.

The 33 year old Roma front man’s contract expires in 2020 but despite all the hype ClaretandHugh can reveal the player has never been on the manager’s list of targets.

The reports have always been based on his having been a Pellegrini player at Manchester City but the Chilean is still focused on Maxi Gomez as his priority.

Such was the intensity of the publicity surrounding the move today we e mailed our senior source at the club and was immediately told Dzeko was a non starter as a summer signing.

We were told firmly: “There is no interest – we are looking at other targets. The stories today are incorrect.”

Would be nice to have a story about a player that’s actually true for once..
Before you get the hump Hugh that’s just in general I mean

Yes there is someone up there listening. We need fast paced mobile young strikers.

I’m a huge fan of Dzeko & was great last two seasons, good this season but as stilled slowed down. At 33 we need to go younger. Sanchez was a mistake at 32 & Dzeko would apparently break our wage record with £165k. Which is too much.
As a plan B Rondon would cost the same but at 29 has 3 years left & is well rounded would cost over £80k wages.
Then we should really go for Mitrovic who will have a lot of suitors but at 24yo PL proven clinical fast on break. Belotti I’m not sure of & Gomez be a good deal. I’d still look at Neal Mapauy too 22 goals 8 assists quick. Championship have a # of strikers they could be good move.
But I’d rather Rondon then Dzeko & we will need 2 CFs I’m ok with on older one but not on huge wages.
Midfield is still huge I think we missed out on Tielmans I’d love to see him by Rice.

A midfield composed of Thielemans, Rice and Dendoncker. That would be majestic…
