Westfield Stratford City will open and trade as normal on West Ham match days, however there will be a crowd management flow in place to reduce overcrowding and help with ease of access. Please see below for more frequently asked questions from Westfield themselves.

Q. Why is there a one way system to get into the shopping centre?
A. To help safely manage the extra footfall we have put a crowd management system in place.
Q. How do I get back into the centre?
A. All customers and spectators will be able to get back into the centre via the transport hub at Stratford tube station.
Q. Why are the barriers so high?
A. We have high barriers in place on football match days to ensure the safe movement of spectators to the transport hub at Straford tube station.
Q. Will the shops, restaurants and hotels be open as usual?
A. Our shops, restaurant and the cinema will be open as usual on match days. If you are staying at any of the hotels, using our car parks or have a restaurant reservation you can gain access via the gate at The Cow on Westfield Avenue by showing your relevant hotel reservation, car parking chip or restaurant reservation.
Q. What is your policy on alcohol?
A. Customers can consume alcohol at any of our licensed establishments but alcohol is not permitted to be consumed whilst walking around the Westfield estate.
Q. Will you have extra security in place?
A. Yes, we will have additional security marshalls in and around the centre during before, during and after the football match to assist with safe movement of spectators.
Q. I’m disabled, how can I access the centre?
A. If you are disabled you will be able to access the centre via the entrance by The Cow, which is located on The Street.
Transport
Q. How do I get to the London Stadium from the shopping centre?
A. On arrival at Stratford station, you are advised to take the most direct walking route to the London Stadium, which is along Montfichet Road, which is accessible by exiting the station via the Westfield Stratford City exit, then immediately turning right onto Montfichet Road. It will take around 15 minutes to reach London Stadium from Stratford station.
There will be clear signage and directions towards the London Stadium and our staff will be on hand to answer any queries you may have.
Q. How do I get back to Westfield Stratford City from the London Stadium?
A. When you leave the football match if you’re travelling back to the transport hub you will be directed via two routes around Westfield Shopping Centre in order to manage the large crowds safely.
Q. Will I be still be able to use the car parks on match days?
A. Yes, our car parks will be open as usual however please note there will be road closures on the day, please see below for more info.
Westfield Stratford City has around 4,500 parking spaces in three car parks over 15 levels. All of the car parks have easy access to the shopping malls and the London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Q. Will there be any road closures whilst the football match is on?
A. There will be several road closures ahead of the football match:
– Westfield Avenue will be closed from 16:45 and is expected to reopen at 00:00
– White Post Lane to Marshgate Lane will be closed from 16:45 and is expected to reopen at 00:00
– White Post Lane to Carpenters Road East will be closed from 18:45 and is expected to reopen at 23:30
Please ensure you take these road closures into consideration when planning your visit to the centre.
Q. Will the tube stations be open as usual?
A. Yes, the tube stations will be open as usual.
Well with all the talk of the new ground and transport I certainly didn’t expect the trip back to Stratford tube to be that painful ! What will it be like when the fans are allowed to drink and its ****ing with rain ?!
Experiment! you don’t have to follow the flow. We have tried a couple of routes and found an excellent one last night by fluke. 15mins from the stadium into the station with no queues.
