Deal inches ever closer

|

West Ham are inching closer to a deal to sign Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, according to a new report in France.

Ouest-France reports that the transfer is getting nearer and nearer after boss David Moyes identified him as a primary target for the summer.

The Hammers boss is desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements after seeing both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna struck down with injuries at the worst possible times this season.

He believes Aguerd is the answer to those problems, and his ability to play at left-back is also a major attraction for Moyes.

The deal, per the report, is getting closer, with the two clubs locked in talks over the structure of the deal.

The one reason that it hasn’t yet gone through is the bonuses included in the deal, with Rennes currently asking for more than the Hammers are offering.

Still, the deal is said to be moving forward, and there remains an expectation that Aguerd will eventually move to the London Stadium.

Here we go again never a clean transfer at west ham. In Jan Phillips and rafhina bids in and then ! Last minute bids admittedly and also one done but the striker went missing. Nice excuses eh when villa and others no problem. So who is it that messes up our deals ? Newman no he puts them to moyes ! Moyes dithering maybe or is it just sully playing his games again ?

Haven’t we been here before? Sounds very similar to the milenkovic pursuit last summer.

Usual rubbish from GSB we’ll be inching closer until he signs for another club. The board should be sacked their performance is not good enough, there isn’t another club in the PL as bad as us at getting deals done.

For all my/our frustration with “dithering Dave” there is more than one person’s interests at stake. If you are a player or a club why rush into an early deal? Wait and see what the window brings. Majority of deals are concluded in the latter part of the window. The early signings are few and far between.. Valuations and motivations change based on the transfer window dynamics, and it’s frustrating for all supporters, not just us.
