West Ham odds on to land England defender

|

MawsonWest Ham has been made the 4/6 odds-on favourite by bookmakers Sky Bet to sign Swansea centre-back Alfie Mawson before 2nd February.

Swansea has already reportedly turned down a £18m bid from the Hammers and is holding out for £25m but in the last 24 hours, Spurs have dropped out of the race saying they have no interest which could make the Welsh team consider their valuation.

Spurs were interested in signing the England Under 21 international last summer but opted against doing a deal. And they have confirmed will not be renewing their interest in January, with Pochettino telling reporters  yesterday: “I hear nothing about this player.”

James Collins, Jose Fonte and Winston Reid are all said to be borrowed time at West Ham and Moyes is keen to bring in a fresh centre-back as one of his priorities and is said to be a big admirer of Mawson.

Moyes is at the Bournemouth Everton game today so obviously eyeing up some talent on one or both of those teams. Bournemouth are leading by the way 1 0 just goes to show Allardyce has the world at his feet now in relative terms of skillful players yet Everton already look boring, they have had 60% posession and only managed a single shot I think.

Lineker was saying Allardyce was a good appointment as were all the MOTD pundits but the only match they looked good which has been attributed to Sam was against us when it was Unsworth’s team and Unsworth in charge and to be fair we put up nothing in that match.

Saw that 32 imagine looking at Schindlerlin is one thing & maybe Smith for RB who I actually rate & like a lot.
Like Mawson good CB & left footed but shouldn’t be a priority. Midfield should be we have plenty of CBs & spending our entire kitty on 1 CB when we have 7 & 3 young English ones. Only thing about Mawson is he has no pace.
Another reason I don’t like Moyes having final say on all transfers if that includes selling of our youth. I really think Burke & Cullen who could if used Cullen this season as balk playing mid but they are on low wages & wouldn’t get much for them so keep them & let them work under proper staff. Can see the last 2 years Bilic’s training hasn’t been top & never been keen on youth.
Moyes isn’t either bc 6mo contract don’t want to sell the kids to get another English CB or aging bench warmers. What a difference a DOF would make every year they talk about getting one.

I like Burke and Cullen also, I haven’t watched much of him this season but Burke definitely looks like he has the character to establish himself. Lets see what Moyes does we certainly need match ready transfers people that are considerably better than what we have.

I just hope we don’t waste our money on Dawson.

Agree would be a total waste of money, I just cannot see anything in him, he has no pace as mentioned above and he actually is not that good on the ball.

Would much rather see Oxford at CB rather than Mawson.A good deal though could be Mawson arriving and us getting rid of Ayew in the other direction which could solve a couple of problems. He needs to take a good look at Burke and Cullen in training as they too were regarded as part of the future not so long back.Definately need Oxford though as he has huge potential and needs a run in the team.
