Carroll sent home after refusing to apologise

|

Andy Carroll has turned out a loser in his confrontation with manager David Moyes during a training ground meeting this morning (Mon).

The striker, who stomped out of the dug out after being ignored as a second half sub against Manchester City, had an eyeball to eyeball meeting with the manager at Rush Green.

Amid rumours that the event became quite “physical” – which have now been denied to CandH – he and Moyes refused to budge from their their respective positions.

And eventually – with no apology for his behaviour coming from the striker – Moyes sent him home meaning he missed the first day of the build up to the game at Leicester City on Saturday.

ClaretandHugh was told: ” The meeting was 100 per cent not physical but given there was no ‘sorry gaffer’ forthcoming so the player was sent home. ”

However, another source claimed there was some sympathy for Carroll among the squad claiming that he hadn’t moved from the bench until the final substitution had been made.

Moyes took the view that in all circumstances the squad sticks together and behind each other until the 90 minutes is played out.

Perhaps Moyes should take the team on 4 day holiday (bonding session) to some exotic training camp ??? Worked briefly last time????😊😊😊

Caroll owes West Ham big time. Stick him in against Leicester and if he gets a hat trick we can consider forgiving him.

If Carroll’s actions helps get rid of Moyes then he’ll have repaid West Ham BIG time.

What a mess it just gets worse every week ..I was up for giving moyes a chance but his selection and tactics are poor ..I’ve no idea were we go from here …it’s embarrassing

As noted a bit of a mess all around

    1. The substitution didn’t make sense as Chicarito needs service into the box which was unlikely to be forthcoming given the removal of Lanzini while Carroll would at least have made a nuisance of himself and perhaps allowed us an outlet rather than just giving the ball back to City

    2. Carroll was ill disciplined to go down the tunnel however disappointed he might have been – but it is hardly a hanging offence given that all subs had been made

    3. I remember when Carroll and Randolph had a night out and were photographed the following morning – Slav said he would deal with it – I presume that he did without a blazing row that got into the newspapers

    4. Like many on this site I desperately wanted Slav to succeed – but by the time he was fired it came as a relief

    5. I appreciated the discipline that Moyes brought to the defence – but the performances this year have been largely underwhelming (Huddersfield, Southampton and Watford are the exceptions)

    6. For the next three matches all differences should be put aside and we should concentrate on getting the points necessary for survival – we should aim to emulate the likes of Newcastle and aim for three wins on the bounce including beating Man U

Whoa – China Doll walks out and this turns into a let’s kick Moyes sess, the same China Doll who called out us fans for leaving early, decides to leave the bench and go home early and we turn on Moyes.! The facts are there is only one person to blame for this incident and it’s Carroll. Whatever you may think of Moyes decision making is another debate. No player breaks ranks and behaves like this. Speaks volumes for this self-centred waste of £85k a week and the sooner he is gone the better.
Now, turning to Moyes. Poor decision making, too defensive and for me he can follow China Doll out of the door. But he isn’t to blame for calling out players for making endless individual errors and he isn’t at fault for Carroll’s behaviour here either.

If he’d gone on instead of Chicharito we’d be moaning about not playing Chich. Much as I’m a fan of the big man, throwing dolly out the pram was unacceptable. Can you imagine Ferguson or another great manager putting up with it?
