Are Hammers board waiting for Everton development?

|

ClaretandHugh follower Selsdon Hammer wonders whether the Hammers areq quietly hoping events at Everton could save them the problem of firing David Moyes.

And like many he believes that we are suffering a bad Groundhog Day scenario as the season totters towards real problems.

Every West Ham match day can currently be re-named Groundhog Day!

It’s the same set of problems all the time – predictable team and formation, a lazy start, very slow build up play, questionable tactics and substitutions, many shots but few on target and losing at the death. Furthermore, we no longer score from corners.

As a result David Moyes is looking increasingly like an out-of-date manager who cannot adapt with a mainly old school support team.

He seems unable to shake off the defensive mindset he has adopted throughout his career and has been found out by the opposition.

I imagine that the Board are hoping that Everton sack Lampard and approach Moyes which would save it the indignity, and cost, of sacking him.

And by the way former Hammer  (and Toffee) Nikola Vlasic added insult to injury last night when scoring and providing an assist last night.

He was another player who never got a break under Moyes despite this manager bringing him in for around £25 million.

Sad to say I am joining the Moyes out faction. I just don’t think he is for changing, even though it’s not working. His set up is defensive, restrictive and choking. Look how he could not integrate Haller, Classic, and so far Scamacca and Paqueta. He has demoralised Benrahma, made young star players look for away by over 2 years of no opportunity. He blames players, and fans, but never himself. He seems incapable of reading a game sufficient to make effective subs, and never deviates from swapping players rather than adding to flair. I think Moyes is lost and the players know it. Sorry

I don’t think even Everton would be daft enough to replace Lampard with Moyes. That would be out of the frying pan and into the fire. Moyes has run out if ideas and therefore momentum.

Sounds like it could be a good development, as long as we don’t get Lampard in exchange.

David Moyes says there are too many experts, or words to that effect. Unfortunately he no longer seems to be one of those experts. He obviously hasn’t a clue how to win matches anymore. How did it all go so horribly wrong? We used to take on teams, including the big ones, and have a real go at them. It was good. Now we are worse than when playing for Sam Allardyce in the Premier League. I certainly remember us parking the bus at Stamford Bridge and getting a result with Big Sam. But I, like everybody else, thought those ultra defensive days were gone. We have some talented attacking players who seem to be held back or have all just lost form at the same time.

Antonio has already given us an insight into the gaffer’s tactic of defending for 80 minutes and having a real go in the last 10 minutes. He also said that he himself would be up for playing alongside Scamacca in a front two but the gaffer won’t hear of it. You would think that by now Moyes would start trying different tactics out of desperation. We’re not expecting our Hammers to start playing kamikaze style like Leeds (though at least it would be exciting!). But we expect them to actually have a go from the first half kick-off, not waiting until the second half when we are already a goal down. We want to see some heart and positivity back in the Hammers. For auld lang syne, David!

If not against Leicester on Saturday then it should be adios amigo Mr Moyes. Thanks for the memories. It was good while it lasted. Now it’s time to move on.

Personally I think his last game in charge whether we win or lose will be Saturday. He has lost the majority of the fans and when you lose the trust of our fans then before it really gets nasty the board need to act. I also believe his bias to certain underperforming players has had a hugely negative effect on team morale so much so I believe the players have now lost alot of faith and respect for him. His treatment of players like Lanzini, Benrahma, Fornals, Vlasic and Coufal has been nothing short of terrible. The players and fans deserve better than what we watched for the last 12 months. This decision has to made on sat straight after the game and dint put that vlown warburton in charge, another manager stuck in the dark ages.

I’m not going to be popular but he deserves a chance as do the players . They just need that work ethic back and DM also needs to look at setting us up to win not so defensive . They just need to stick together as a team and manager and turn this around . We have good players so go out their and give it your all in every game lads . COYI ⚒

I agree with what you’re saying but it was said a year ago. Mr Moyes will never change his ideas and incidentally, its reported that we run the least kms in the Premier league this year.

    • hammeroo says:

@papabenno Yes, and we are the lowest ranking team in the Prem for pressing. We also had the oldest squad before the start of the season, and it may still be.
