Slaven Bilic has indicated that Darren Randolph will be in goal again today declaring: “He deserved his chance, and it’s his position now.”
Last time out, I made the decision to play Darren Randolph in goal, and of course it was my decision. He deserved his chance. Adrian took the decision like a true professional.
“Of course he may be disappointed, but I explained this to him in person because he deserved that much.
“It’s not like you’re replacing an outfield player – you don’t always have to have an explanation for every player every time, but Adrian deserved it and as I said, he took it like a pro.”
Addressing today’s game he said: “Today is time to show our character and what we’re made of. Of course, we are all guilty of the situation we’re in.
“But since the Crystal Palace game, we have showed the intensity, quality and spirit. We have improved, but we have to improve more. We showed last week that we can do it. We must now show that again.”
Below are comments l made towards the end of last season when Hugh posted an article stating the the Hammers had arrived as a team.

No hugh, we HAVE NOT
arrived!!!!!
First of all we need a world
class goalkeeper who can
save shots written “goal” all
over them, and consistently
snatches victories from the
jaws of defeat just like de Gea
does for Manure. IMHO such a
keeper will be the foundation
of any sustained future
success and is more valuable
than the 20 goals a season
striker we currently seek .
Then we need a regular,
reliable and competant
rightback, as well as a quality
right sided centre back to play
alongside Ogbonna. Finally we
desperately need a classy
defensive midfielder who can
read the game and actually
break up the opposition play,
who doesnt lunge into
desperate tackles, and doesnt
fall behind the play or stand in
our own way when the game
is pacy, someone who can
control and dominate the
opposition like N’golo Kante.
l havent got anything near
Bilic’s acumen but l promise
you we will win a trophy next
season if the above areas are
attended to. l know because l
actually predicted we will
finish 6th this season given
the team we had assembled,
and so far lm right…..
l still hold the same sentiments
Baddie hammer I completely agree, Randolph is a good shot stopper and that’s about it. Adrian makes better saves as seems more inclined to throw himself at saves, whereas Randolph it the more static and when you don’t play enough games it can show. I fear Randolph may let in more than 2 goals today. Adrian gets above himself and because he thought he would never be dropped he started to take liberties in goal. Adrian is a much better keeper, but how Billic never went for Joe Hart in the transfer window is a massive mistake. Having a top keeper makes the team have confidence and Hart is a top top keeper.
Don’t get too carried away with Hart , we have all seen him make some cringe worthy mistakes . Or did they go unnoticed? . As I said earlier every keeper can have go through a bad patch .
I think both keepers are very capable and we should be grateful we have them . Keepers can go off-colour just as easily a any outfield player . It’s extremely difficult to maintain a top notch run of form . It’s hard to distribute when players don’t run into spaces and even harder to come off your line if players are out of position ; so , basically we shouldn’t be too critical of our Stoppers . They are both better than some keepers in the Prem .
Apart from all that , if you read all the comments and articles Man Utd are sending out it seems as if they are talking themselves out of a win due to being overconfident against a team in danger of relegation . If we can beat Thier overconfidence then we can have a great afternoon .
Come on you Hammers .
Forget the keepers has he had a chat with captain fantastic about the ability of passing the ball forward and maybe running at pace? Or are we all going to be subjected to another of Nobes doing sod all masterclasses again 🙂
Would love to see Noble score after that comment .
Well here’s hoping he delivers a performance for a change eh Kevin? Because I for one am sick of seeing him doing next to nothing in every home and away game that I’ve gone to so here’s hoping after another slog getting to Manchester today he actually does something:)
Yeh but , he is still a very good player . It would be a bit harsh to discount him as useless , GW . He does have and has had some great games and some stinkers just as any other player . Sometimes his Boots are in the wrong place but , his Heart is always in the Right place .
Reckon if we can’t express our opinions from time to time then we’ve got a sad situation .
Good luck today Iron and keep your fingers crossed .
Personally I’m hoping for a double ; West Ham 3pts & Hamilton somehow winning the F1 Championship . Let’s have a lucky day .
Come on you Hammers .
Even if he does score it makes no difference to his overall play. I bet he never sets a goal target every season and bear in mind most of his goals come from the spot. Lanzini should now be our main penalty taker.
To some he can do no wrong just like the overrated waste of space China Doll 🙂
Randolph well and truly deserves a run of games now. Always thought he was the better of the 2.
COYI
He’s a great shot stopper, but i panic every time a corner or high ball comes in.His distribution is poor always down the middle, straight down to the opposition keeper.
Randolph deserves his chance, but I’m not sure he’s the answer.
Whenever we have been a good team we had a great keeper.
And / or , strikers that score .
