Andy Carroll will again be involved on Saturday when the irons face Swansea City in the huge relegation clash on Saturday.
The big man left the action last night against Arsenal with Slaven Bilic claiming he was feeling the groin injury which kept him out for several weeks.
However, ClaretandHugh learned this morning that Carroll cannot play three 90 minute games in a week but that he will again be included for up to an hour against the Welsh outfit.
And despite leaving the action at the Emirates after playing 45 minutes following a a sickness bug earlier in the day, Michail Antonio is also set to play.
We were told: “Both are minor issues and there should be no problem with either of them for what is an incredibly important game.”
The rest of the team came through unscathed although it remains unclear as to whether Aaron Cresswell will be available. However given his level of form it’s likely that Arthur Masuaku will continue at left back.
Carroll has to play, if only for an hour. 5 goals in 8 appearances v Swansea for us.
I wonder if this issue, or his layoff injury, have affected his performance. I don’t think he has been quite such a force since he came back in December. Is this because the rest are struggling? I always used to feel that on the (limited) occasions he played he lifted the team. I have seen fewer full games this season than normal-anybody who has attended more often agree/disagree? I would still rather see him play, but long term it is a concern that he can’t play twice a week.
I would like to see Carrol & Sakho.up front, if only for the first half we could be 3 goals in front by then. ( I know typical WH hopeful ) Slav has to go for it no messing about with one up front we must win. & the best form of defence is offence.Swansea played good breakaway football against Tottenham & were unlucky to only score one goal so we need to keep them pend n there r own half.
