Dawson update as window business gets “urgent”

Craig Dawson definitely won’t make the match against Viborg in the European Conference play off game against Viborg on Thursday evening.

The central defender – usually so good at shaking off injuries – is still struggling with a hip problem which could also keep him out of the match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

As we suggested earlier it will leave the manager with a left sided problem should Ben Johnson be required to continue at central defence.

And the likelihood is that new signing from Burnley Maxwel Cornet could well be employed in the left full back position in the absence of the suspended Aaron Cresswell.

There are natural concerns behind the scenes as the injury and suspension problems arise and a key London  Stadium source made the position on future signings as clear he was able.

He told CandH exclusively: “We have many bids in and are urgently trying to clinch some deals ahead of deadline day.”

Just reinforces if it were necessary the tremendous service we have had from Daws and that it doesn’t need a big name Megabucks signing to cement a team. What a genuine bloke

If only we’d had some inclination that our squad depth simply wasn’t sufficient enough last season and that selling 7 more players might cause us some issues this season. If only we’d had that clue, we could’ve signed a few players in January to see us through. Perhaps we even could have started preparing for the exits of Masuaku, Kral, Noble, Diop, Fredericks, Vlasic and Yarmolenko by having a coherent transfer window strategy in place in June. Can you believe we’re only two games into the season and already injuries and suspensions are catching up with us. Typical unlucky West Ham!
