ExWHUemployee discusses Butland chance

|

Stoke City keeper Jack Butland has once again been linked to a move to West Ham.

ITK ExWHUemployee on the West Ham Way podcast said: “We are apparently looking to sign another keeper, possibly because we’ve realised how dire the situation is.

There is talk of trying to get Jack Butland from Stoke, potentially sign him on loan with a view to a permanent deal, obviously if you are going to get him on loan they would have to pay a large fee.”

Butland joined Stoke in 2013 from Birmingham for £3.42m but remained on loan in the midlands.

Further loan periods were made at Barnsley, Leeds and Derby before his return to Stoke in 2014.

Stoke once put a £30m valuation on their 26-year-old player last summer but there were no takers in the Premier League.

Both Crystal Palace and Bournemouth were keen on the keeper but not prepared to pay the asking price.

Back in 2018 West Ham were favourites to sign him as a replacement to Adrian before Fabianski was signed.

We must do something now, as having Roberto in goal again would be a disaster. The defence look jittery and must feel like they are going to be two nil down before half time. Does he have a clause that says he does not have to dive, or have any reactions?
Clearly, whoever scouted him should be removed from office with immediate effect before the reommend someone that is this much of a diaster.
How can any club leave themselves with no cover for their first choice goalkeepr, and we let Adrian go for Roberto, that is utter madness or put another way sheer incompetence.

He had a terrible start to season up there with Roberto the mistakes he made .but would take him to replace him

A loan deal obviously with sustantial costs and a contract offer would be a great deal if he is prepared to.be a number 2..excuse my ignorance on the player at the moment but is he Stoke City’s first choice ??

  • Whammer1 says:

And only 26 it’s a no brainer Dave x2 get him on board..Fab will not last forever..Butland and Trott to go into the next era..manager depending of course

  • Simon says:

Even if we have to pay 100mil for Butland get him at Rush Green immediately and give Roberto away please.
Problem with this whole thing is …. Pelligrini who trusts Roberto 100%. You cannot upgrade a car with a busted engine no matter how many times you say … “you’re a merc”. Let’s hope WH board will wake up and realise the team is in a mess … and needs immediate serious decision making …. esp with regards to the goalkeeping … and correct signings !!!!

Can’t we get Adrian on loan from Liverpool. He knows the players, manager and club

  • Hammer64 says:

Tricky one. Fabianski might come back & play every game. If we have bought a backup the money could have gone on another outfield player. But if he breaks down again & we have no cover we are stuffed. Would prefer a loan keeper but as Kenneth says the big mistake of not getting proper cover in the first place has already been made.
