Man United 1 Irons 1
It was often not easy to watch but in the end it all came right for an Irons side which looks better and better with every successive game.
Even with no Winston Reid at the heart of defence Slav’s defensive set-up looked awesome and it was Darren Randolph who took all the plaudits.
It can be no coincidence that we have produced two outstanding displays – so long as we forget that awful last five minutes at Spurs – with him between the sticks.
I counted four quite outstanding saves from Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Rashford, twice, whilst his handling and decision making on when to leave his line was brilliant.
With that sort of keeping going on behind you any defender is going to grow in confidence. The man was awesome – end of.
Having taken the lead via Sakho – the first striker to score for us this term – from Payet’s fabulous free kick inside two minutes we had plenty of time to worry.
But it took a sublime ball over the top from Pogba and an experienced Ibrahimovic header for United to get level and after that it was pretty much even stevens.
There were hairy moments but Collins, Ogbonna and Kouyate were up to everything else Mourinho’s United could throw at them whilst up front we always carried a threat with Sakho moving defenders around brilliantly until he came off injured.
Darren Fletcher replaced him and looked the part going close near the end whilst Ayew showed what he is all about with some creative flicks, twists and turns.
In the end we had moved up to 16th and are really looking a decent side at last.
All that remains is for us to get to grips with life at the London Stadium – get that sorted and this Hammers team will be on the march.
