Four down, two to go!

So we beat Arsenal at the Emirates 2-0 on the opening day of the new season to set the tone under our new manager. The first time in eight years we had beaten the Gooners when Bobby Zamora scored the only goal when we became the first team to beat Arsenal at the Emirates.

Then came that historic 3-0 win against Liverpool at Anfield, the first time in 52 years to beat the Reds away from home. In 1963 we relied on Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst to score our score our goals in the old money division one before the Premier League was even dreamed of.

Next came a 2-1 win against former champions Manchester City at the Ethiad, West Ham had never beaten Man City away in the League at their new stadium. Our last league away win came in 1982 at Maine Road when Paul Goddard scored the only goal.

Last weekend it was Chelsea’s tun to come under Slav’s sword with a 2-1 home win against the reigning champions. We beat the Blues as recent as 2012 when Carlton Cole, Mo Diame and Maiga scored in a 3-1 win. Collins and Tomkins also played in that win to remember on a December day.

These four wins have already made the 2015/2016 a season to remember already but we have two important games coming up to complete a magnificent half dozen run  by Super Slav.  On Sunday 22nd November we take on our old foes Spurs at White Hart Lane, then on Saturday 5th December we play Manchester United at Old Trafford. Away wins against both of these teams this season would raise Slaven Bilic to god like status among Hammers folklore and hopefully we can add to the impressive graphic above very soon.

Nope, can’t bring myself to accept that the Spuds should be classed in some category as those other clubs. Maybe it’s my natural ‘Hammers’ default setting but im not having it. That’s ‘folklore’ by the way. Ha.

    I think g man has a point Hugh !!!!!
But its a great feeling when we beat the Scooby,s and to be fair our recent results have been pretty good apart from the fluke 1-0 and the cane 10 /10 dive for the pen !!!!!!
Only this time we have an even stronger side and we will be up for it I’m sure !!!!

Danny dyer said all you need is Slav on the west ham site ,

    ALL YOU NEED IS SLAV
ALL YOU NEED IS SLAV SLAV

Spuds are not in the others class but putting them to the sword is important,
Man U is important for our league position but other games are needed such as Everton away any points there are hard to come by,
Leicester away will not be easy or Stoke,
Every game now against the top 6 teams will be 6 pointers if we are to crown this season,
    We can do this

  • \whether like it or care to admit it, Spurs is the sixth biggest club in the Premier League measured by turnover and similar in fan base. Spurs have over £70m more revenue than us and it will be them who we are aiming to close to the gap first in money terms.

Unfortunately money and league position/success are closer linked now do we would be foolish to admit they are not bigger than us at the moment.

If we are going to think of ourselves as contenders or as a serious threat to the top 6 then we need to beat Spurs as well as the others who regularly finish top 6, most of us would get more pleasure from beating them than anyone else. Of all these teams, only Spurs see us as a threat, I’d like us to become as big as them and seen as a threat by the others. Only Spurs look at us and worry they might lose so we are getting there. The others worry they might lose to Spurs but wouldn’t give it a second thought about losing to us. It’s the facts that tell us that Spurs are a top 6 team and need to be put in the mix with the others we’d like to beat, I might be right in thinking we are the only team who can do the Double over the top 6, now that is a dream COYI

Point taken Sean but they have not got the class of player the others have,
They have a team of also runs with probably only Kane wanted by the top clubs,

Wasn’t the last time we won away to City in the league our last visit to Maine Road in 03? When Sir Trevor almost got us out of the mess we were in with three games to go?

  • Tony gore says:

Spurs ain’t. Special?? Just another club and beatableö.
