Frustrated Carlton wanted one player on at Anfield

|

Carlton Cole makes no bones about – he wants the young striker David Moyes signed from Scotland in the first team.

The 20 year old Irishman is having a phenomenal season in the  under 23s and the former Hammers striker reckons his time may well have come.

Moyes signed the youngster from Celtic soon after he arrived for his second spell in charge of the club and has been involving him in the first team squad.

As yet we haven’t seen him and it’s difficult to understand why he hasn’t had a few minutes at least given his goal scoring record this season for the development team.

Yesterday the manager – perhaps strangely =  threw on the highly rated midfielder Dan Chesters for about three minutes of injury time whilst the young striker remained on the bench during a second half when we really needed a goal.

Cole revealed his frustration on  BBC’s Football Daily Podcast saying: “I was properly screaming at the TV because I just want them to do well. I would love to see Armstrong Okoflex, he’s been a revelation in the Under-23s this year.

“He’s got 17 goals in all competitions this season. He’s a goal scorer and I would have loved to see him come off the bench.”

I and like minded people have been calling for this for weeks. Love what DM has done for our club in the two seasons, support him absolutely, but just don’t get it with the subs never being U23 players. Agree with Carlton – put Chesters on earlier not Benrahma and give Armstrong his chance It’s not happening – we scored nil again – take a chance David. It’s more opportunity than risk.

My main criticism of Moyes is his use of substitutions. What is the point in throwing a youn kid on at Anfield with only 3 minutes left? How can anyone be expected to impose themselves or have any impact on a game in 3 minutes for heaven’s sake ?

Perfectly correct Boozehound . … but only criticism ? are you sure. The reason we are sliding down and out is because of Moyes mismanagement . . He has run the 12 regulars into the ground and failed dismally to strengthen the squad . Letting Haller go was criminal .The guy was a proven goal scorer and is probably now worth £75k. Moyes insisted in playing him in a system that did not suit him. We virtually gave him away with no replacement in sight . Antonio is not a premiership striker … he is all braun and running with no natural goal scoring ability . Moyes is now playing at various times , Diop , Fornals , Johnson , Benny in positions they are not used to or indeed suited to as he has failed to promote youngsters or buy in players to strengthen the team . He is a one trick pony … with no tactical or substitution skills . COYI
