Gold delivers double quick verdict

|

goldDavid Gold was quick to give his post match verdict after the Irons were deprived of a battling point by a last minute penalty.

Ref Lee Mason had no second thoughts about pointing to the spot after a Zabaletta nudge in Yoshida’s back but at ย best it was a very soft penalty to give.

Gold was quickly off the mark to deliver a “just not our day” verdict on a day when the footballing gods all conspired aganst the Irons.

He said:”Not our day, Reid injured in the warm up Marko sent off, soft penalty to lose the game. Great fight back to 2-2 great fans. dg”

The fans were in fact quite extraordinary and totally out sung the home supporters who spent a hghly nervous last 45 minutes as the Irons battled back to 2-2 before that controversial penalty.

The fans as always were superb today.I love our away support, they are immense and always back the team and manager which they deserved today with that fightback.
    Kudos to them,they are brilliant.

Very unlucky today.10 men against 12 for an hour with Lee Mason playing a blinder for the home side.I said after our friendlies that i was very worried about the defence which shipped in goals galore and unfortunately that has carried forward into the new season.Unlucky that Reid was injured but i do not have any faith in Fonte or Ogbonna. We definately need to find a reliable C.H. to play along side Reid and after 2 defeats surely 5.5 mill more for Carvalho is peanuts in the grand scheme of things for a class holding midfielder to protect that shaky back line.

My pal just showed me carvhalo photo in a bar with his arms crossed smiling !
I’ve got my fingers crossed on the strength of that !
Pointless pointing fingers anymore , its all been said ?
Sully needs to get some in and quick , poor defending , bottom of the pile?
Bar codes up next ? ๐Ÿ˜•

Hope you are right Laz.Think the goals for column will be fine this season and Carvalho and Kouyate when fit will really shore it up and protect that vunerable defence.

I disagree with Gold and am worried when the “unlucky” card is played rather than admitting we are two players short a solid CB and a HCM. We have spent next to nothing this summer, get the Carvalho deal sorted by paying the release fee, we really need him and then get Mangala or Sakho and we are a top 8 side in the making. Our spine in midfield and defence is not good enough

Record signing plays for two hours, then has the next four and a half off.

We cannot afford any player to let the team down by a petulant revenge sending off. Arnautovic has got some apologies to make.

The rest of the team worked hard and nearly came away with a point.

Antonio and Zaba were very good today. Fonts – terrible.
