Hammers draw Liverpool

The jubilant atmosphere at West Ham was short-lived after the EFL Cup draw was announced late tonight. In typical Hammers fashion, right after savouring our victory over Arsenal, David Moyes squad was hit with a blow as we were drawn to face Liverpool at Anfield.

Whilst I don’t usually subscribe to conspiracy theories, the outcome of the draw seemed almost preordained, as it had been widely anticipated in various texts, emails, and WhatsApp messages I received in the aftermath of the 3-1 win against Arsenal. Liverpool’s formidable home record makes this draw arguably the most challenging away fixture in domestic football.

This draw feels like meagre compensation for David Moyes and his team’s outstanding performance in dismantling Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side at The London Stadium. Players like Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus delivered heroic displays.

However, West Ham do have a glimmer of hope. The quarter-final tie is likely to be scheduled between Liverpool’s matches against Manchester United and Arsenal, potentially offering the Hammers a strategic advantage.
