Hammers in chase for German left back

|

The Hammers are tonight being reported as being among the clubs interested in Philadelphia Union left back Kai Wagner.

The 23-year-old German has been hugely impressive in the MLS this season and is considered by many decent judges to be the best left back in the league.

He has played 14 games and scored once, that coming against David Beckham’s Inter Miama in Union’s 2-1 victory.

Fulham are also interested in the 6ft tall full back who could easily become a priority signing for the Hammers given the need for cover on that side of the pitch.

As is always the case with MLS players however, there could be a work permit issue should the Hammers make a definite move – a scenario which has found them out in the past.

However, with budgets tight a fee of less than £5 million is attractive to clubs suffering cash issues from the pandemic.
