Hammers ‘target’ set for Spurs

|

Reported West Ham target Djed Spence is set for a move to Spurs.

The Guardian reports that Tottenham have agreed a deal to buy the right-back from Middlesbrough for a fee of £20m.

Spence was promoted with Nottingham Forest during his loan spell with the club and has subsequently attracted a great deal of interest this summer.

The Hammers were linked with Spence last summer but a deal for a right-back simply isn’t on the Hammers’ radar in this transfer window.

Ben Johnson and Vlad Coufal are both full-back options for the club, while Harrison Ashby is closing in on a first-team breakthrough.

Spence was born in London and was on Fulham’s books as a youngster, but he now looks set to move to Spurs after shining in the Championship last season.

He is regarded as one of the country’s best young defenders and he has chosen to join Tottenham over staying at Forest on a permanent basis.
