How we rated the Irons against Watford

|

Hughie hands out his marks

Fabianski: One fine save with feet and a great catch near the end with plenty of decent stuff in between shows his day is far from done 7

Coufal: Defended well, got forward at every opportunity – coming back to his best 7

Dawson: On the case all evening and always dangerous from corners 7

Zouma: Booed all night but was entirely composed throughout, kept it very simple and impressed 7+

Cresswell: Looking fitter after his long lay off and was more dangerous than previously down the left 6+

Rice: Not quite his usual self at times – a couple of dispossessions but it’s hard to criticise because he has set the bar so high 7

Soucek: Very solid in front of the back four and saw one header go narrowly over from a corner at the other end 7

Benrahma: Sorry but let’s be honest he is not yet a PL player. Lots of misplaced passes, hit a post but never gives the impression he’s REALLY going to turn it on for 90 minutes.5

Bowen: Outstanding second half with a goal, another turned onto the post and lots of exciting wing play. England must come calling 8+

Fornals: Neat and tidy with some good passing but no major impact 6

Antonio: Worked hard but didn’t see too many scoring opportunities. Needs to improve that first touch 5

Sub:

Lanzini Much better than Benrahma whom he replaced – quick and to feet passing and went past men 7

Was a solid team performance would give Rice an 8 and Antonio a 7, Benny struggled today but am confident he will get stronger and better he lacks consistency but has the ability to change games as he nearly did when his shot was saved and follow up hit the post.
