Lampard image brings charge of Irons fans disconnect

|

West Ham have been accused of disconnection from the fan base after an image of  Frank Lampard which appeared on the London Stadium emerged on social media.

The photo shows Hammers Brian Dear, Frank Lampard Junior and Phil Parkes on the London Stadium.

Lampard arguably saw his best days of his career at Chelsea and not West Ham. And we can only imagine – as pointed out by CandH FB follower Graham Hatt – our media bods, or whoever, should have posted a pic of his Dad!

After all Frank senior made 551 appearances for the club whilst his Chelsea-managing son made a mere 148. Come on lads, catch up!

Lampard jnr slapped in a transfer request after his uncle and father were sacked by the club and is considered by many to be in the same category as Paul Ince and Jermain Defoe.

Lampard and uncle Harry Redknapp faced criticism at West Ham when he was substituted  late on in games which some claimed was so he could receive appearance money. He has remained a West Ham hate figure to many despite coming from a West Ham family.

Supporters see this as further evidence that the Hammers marketing department does not understand the supporter base.

He played for the club, like it or not. You can’t erase history, and nor should you (there are countless more important examples of this). The Lampard family are an important part of our history, with junior a very small, but, nevertheless, part of it. If fans aren’t grown up enough to walk on by and blank the poster rather than slating the club, then jog on. What next: erase Paul Ince? John Terry? Scott Parker? Martin Peters because he went to Tottenham in 1970? Daft.

I’ve never got the Lampard thing.
If a company sacked your old man and uncle then it left him in an impossible position.
Also, he didn’t ask to leave, the club sold him.
Remember they had just sold his best pal as well (Rio) and he was left in limbo.
I remember him getting loads of abuse when he played which I never got.
I watched him play at Chadwell Heath with Rio plus many others and he was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch.
Some of our supporters always dig out one player, unfortunately for him he was one of those. Never will get why they do this.
I prefer to remember when he followed in his old mans shoes and jigged around the corner flag at Elland Road, I was there for both, it bought back so many great memories.
Watch that goal and see the delight in his face, he loved playing for West Ham.
Shame as his old man won’t come back to watch the team because of the abuse his done got.
    Lost a legend there.

I don’t think there’s much to argue about there!

    Say’s it all really!

This constant criticism of Board, club and players just earns us ridicule from supporters of other clubs. Its a waste of energy and we need to get real. COVID 19 is life or death and West Ham will survive whatever!

Like his father Jnr was outstanding for us, the best no.8 we had since the late great Martin Peters. Just like many other people I didn’t appreciate his comments about our club when he departed, but purely based on ability to affect a game in our favour I really enjoyed watching him play in Claret and Blue.
The poster doesn’t affect me as I have no plans to go to the stadium whilst it’s closed to the public.
