Magical win – just one disappointment

|

One disappointment yesterday and sadly it’s becoming far too regular in this game!

I admire Jurgen Klopp a lot. Great manager and normally honest in defeat but like the sacked Dean Smith before him last week he showed bitterness in defeat which was well out of order.

Ir seems to me that he and Smith , plus no doubt a few others as the season progresses, can’t take defeat from a team that has been considered a soft touch for years.

The idea that he spouted claiming the game was changed in the fourth minute when goalkeeper Allison was fouled was simply not true.

And to base the fact that we put three past them was just plain silly – I thought he understood the game a bit better than that.

This ungracious attitude from managers and players does my head in.

I understand that we put one of the final nails in the Smith coffin but that’s not gonna happen to Klopp and he might have apologised when looking at it a second time.

The Hammers were massive and so were our amazing fans.

What a Sunday afternoon and Monday morning to wake up to!

I don’t think his response is a dissapointment; it’s actually a huge compliment.

When you are a supposed member of a “club” with limited membership i.e. the often talked about Big 4″, “Big 5” or “Big whatever”. If some additional upsatrt is suddenly threatening to join the club you are not going to say congratualtions, well done, do come and replace us at the top table. That just isn’t how it works. Big clubs don’t give a monkeys about what the rest think and if we are the big club, that we know we are, a pat on the head and a well done from Klop is irrelevant,

    • I don’t enjoy a lack of grace. We’re all different

The so called big teams have a sense of entitlement when it comes to playing teams they consider below their level. As demonstrated in Shankley’s comment. When things don’t work out the way they anticipate they are shocked and, in Klopps case, angry. Hence his ungracious comments. Not a good look, unfortunately.

It costs nothing to be gracious and sporting in defeat, goodness knows we have had our fair share over the years. JK was given a stark reminder of the defensive frailties from past seasons prior to VVD joining, his attempt to deflect attention from this was so evident.

Klopp needs to take a look at Pep’s comments after we knocked them out of the cup, gracious in defeat, not bitter & very twisted!

I seem to recall Bill Shankly reminiscing about Liverpool playing West Ham when he was manager: it was words to the effect that the Hammers played lovely football, gave them a good game but Liverpool always ended up with the points. What I dislike about Klopp is that he was so gracious pre-match about West Ham, notwithstanding his inclusion during the run through of our whole team of his less than subtle admiration for Jarrod Bowen, presumably because he also felt the points were in the bag, before snarling and lashing out when his team lost. He needs to learn to be like Guardiola, who will still profess admiration for a team in defeat: a little charm generates true respect. From a personal perspective, whilst I adored the West Ham style of old I admire Moyes’s more pragmatic approach because we seem much more capable of winning games and no longer need to fear any other team.

Pmsl please, accept that you were beaten by a team that came at you, percentages meant nothing we scored 1 more goal than you!! That’s all that you need. I guess he didn’t see the dive from Salha, but that’s ok as it’s part of football, maybe at Liverpool it is, might be a flash back when we didn’t want him as our manager a few years back!! Move on to the next game we are a force that through hard work we are making people stand up and take notice. Well done boys long may this continue.
