Moyes FA Cup excuse doesn’t really wash

|

david-moyesMoyes has made a lame attempt to defend the squad after the FA Cup defeat at Wigan and it’s unlikely too many supporters will accept his reasoning

Speaking after the game he said: “People shouldn’t be maybe that surprised because if you look at the team we played, I don’t think our team is necessarily a Premier League team.

“I think we had a scattering of Premier League players. Then we had young players, who’re on their way to trying to become good footballers. Maybe some of them, in time, will go on to be top Premier League players, but at this point in time it’s not the case.”

Wigan defender Defender Chey Dunkley, however, insists nothing should be said to down play the League One team’s victory.

He said: “They were missing big players like Carroll, Lanzini, Arnautovic and Noble, but I still reckon they put out a strong side.

“They still had a few experienced players out there and they are a Premier League side. You had players like Hernandez playing for them, and Joe Hart.

“We can’t control who they play or field. We just had to make sure we were professional with it and we were.”

Moyes will never win anything. Let’s hope he keeps us up and the owners have already tied up Marco Silva in May.
At any level to go to The 3 away cup games Moyes has put teams out against and not to have an effort on target is an utter disgrace. The West Ham fans deserve better and at least to try and win especially against teams 2 leagues below us. No exscuses the man simply doesn’t know how .

Seriously what was he meant to do. I for one cannot blame Moyes for the team he fielded.

“Play the youngsters play the youngstsrs give them a chance”

“Oh man what a weak sise he’s put out we’re gonna get battered”

Make your minds up west ham fans ffs

Lets face facts… we dont have enough players, we dont spend enough on quality players, our board have such a bad reputation now for low balling and then panic buying that either nobody wants to do business with us or they want to take us for complete wallies. Add that to a group of fickle fans who cant decide if they want a sh*t or a haircut, it makes you wonder what on earth moyes has to do to get any credit.

Obviously Moyes is dead right. He is being honest about some of our youngsters. Sadly none of them have lived up to the hype in these cup games. People who said Martinez should be in the first team because he scores goals in the U23s need to have a think about it.
Of course Wigan people will want to over-hype their performance by pretending we had a good team out but we still didn’t have. Hernandes is a waste of space unless he is presented with numerous chances set up for him.
Moyes is till doing an exceptional job while faced with hideous player shortages, and he will continue tomorrow hopefully with a more decent team.

And I’ll make it 4 to 1, moyes put out all he really could, played 2 up top, played some youth who aren’t really ready/good enough and it didn’t work and we lost a cup game. Hardly surprising and requiring the knicker wetting that some have resorted to. On to the next game. COYI

so the social media manager bashing has begun. honeymoon over after getting knocked out fielding a team of youngsters. it all seems a bit deja vous and sam allardyce all over again doesnt it. first the manager is slated for not playing the kids and then the opposite. cant win can they. same old story.

There was no real choice but to play the youngsters given our rotating door forever spinning in the treatment room . Would have thought though that the youngsters could be expected to be just as good as the third tier players at Wigan . The only excuse as far as I can see is that the youngsters are not well enough drilled when you consider Thier first team status or lack of . That , and given the fact Wigan really wanted it , the result was no surprise at all , especially with ten men . I’m sure most of us would have liked a longer cup run but , there you go .
Now , of course , we have a major problem in the Premiership . The Palace game represents yet Another Megga Game for us . It just keeps going on & on . We will field our strongest team possible against Palace , obviously ; just hope it’s enough to at least earn a point . Palace will go straight for the Jugular ., and we have to have our defense in top form.

i agree moyes had no choice given the injuries with the caveat that he diddnt really want to go any further in the cup for the same reason. he said it premier league survival and the finances involved is more important. in the circumstances moyes hasnt put a foot wrong for me since he took over.
