Moyes goes strong

|

David Moyes has named a strong West Ham team to face Servette in the first pre-season friendly of the summer.

The Irons boss has not got his entire squad to choose from but has selected a side that is not too far removed from what we could see on the opening day against Manchester City.

There is also the involvement of some of the academy products.

Lukasz Fabianski plays in goal, fresh from signing his new contract, while Harrison Ashby and Aji Alese join experienced campaigners Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell in defence.

Conor Coventry comes into midfield, alongside Manuel Lanzini, while Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma, and Arthur Masuaku provide support to Mikey Antonio up front.

There are none of the summer signings in the squad yet, but there are a number of kids on the bench who could potentially get some sort of chance this summer.

West Ham XI: Fabianski; Ashby, Dawson, Alese, Cresswell; Coventry, Lanzini; Fornals, Benrahma, Masuaku; Antonio. Subs: Trott, Randolph, Hegyi, Zouma, Longelo, Diop, Ogbonna, Ekwah, Chesters, Potts, Okoflex, Mubama.

Why is Moyes playing Masauku when surely preseason friendlies are for squad players and academy hopefuls. Does this mean we’ve got him for another season? COYI
