David Moyes has confirmed that his young striker Mipo Odubeko is a player very much in his mind but that a long term injury has held up his progress.

The manager hinted at his presser ahead of the Burnley match that the 18 year old looks close to first team duty although it’s bound to be limited initially.

With only one  front man available in Mikey Antonio, the teenager’s decision to leave Manchester United where numerous strikers were in front of him could be about to pay off in a big way.

And given the warmth of his words towards the youngster it looks more than conceivable that the manager may well give him a few minutes he with two games  coming up between now and Tuesday.

Moyes gave him no more than a few seconds towards the end of the match at Stockport County but may well be ready to hand him a real chance against either Burnley or West Brom.

Speaking to reporters he said: “I think he’s somebody we’re looking forward to working with, but he pulled his hamstring four months ago and has been out for three months.

He’s a young player we have big hopes for. With Mipo, he’s just back from a long-term hamstring injury, but we like him a lot and will try and bring him along at the right time and when we need him.”

To maintain our March upwards we most definitely need three points at home to Burnley and not a repeat of that infamous day . If young players can make the difference we need to embrace it and be happy we have them .

Expect to see him for 2 minutes in March

Only a win away from top 5/6 and we go in to our next game with 1 not fully fit striker ..I’m astounded that we have let this happen..we were crying out for a strike with haller here but we sold him and go in to our nxt game with 3/4 of striker with Antonio…🤣🤣🤣🤣👍only at west ham

    • Hard to argue with that

Thanks hugh..I hope we get away with it I really do ..but it will also put so much more pressure on Antonio as well …especially with his hamstrings ..I see moyes said his next four games is more important wich is right under normal circumstances, but with one forward thats not fully fit ,I really cant see how it isnt the most important thing ,,but then again he has to say that …have we made any bids yet do you know …?

        • I’m told he has three or four in mind but in all honesty, and I take no sides, all my journo mates in Liverpool and Manc say he’s incredibly indecisive. I know it fashionable to beat the board up Childish but honestly he really is a bit of a mare in the window. One of the reasons he got the MU boot apparently lol

I have to say this kid has the x factor, he is a real gem. I hope we give him opportunities and also manage him well. I wonder would his emergence reduce the need for a striker and perhaps we switch our attentions to a winger. I still believe we need a CM urgently. Moyes must not have liked the young midfielder Brighton as signing, from Ecuador but he is reportedly very good.
