Moyes was way too harsh!

|

David Moyes last night decided to single out Vladi Coufal for criticism after last night’s game and frankly seemed unfairly harsh on the Czech defender!

The Hammers’ right-back was at the centre of the disappointing defeat, as he conceded a penalty and was ultimately sent off in harsh circumstances after being handed a second yellow card.

Replays showed he got the ball, while Moyes also reckoned he was at fault for the opening goal, when Gabriel Martinelli burst into the box from the left flank and curled a finish into the bottom corner.

Watching the replay, we’re at a loss as to why Moyes criticised him, as Martinelli was simply too fast, and Coufal would have needed to be running at a full sprint to be able to stop him.

Add given the Czech international has been injured and has only recently returned to the first-team, digging him out may not be the best look for Moyes.

Coufal has been nothing short of brilliant since his signing and is an exceptional option at right-back.

None of what happened last night was his fault and we’ll be poorer without him against Norwich, when he will unfortunately be suspended.

I agree he was too harsh on Coufal, amazed he didn’t talk about Masuaku and his total inability to tackle, we started this game with ten men!

Coufal had a decent game, every defender gets things wrong, Martinelli showed something our forwards don’t do enough, a desire to run in behind.

It just proves that Moyes has no clue what to do when things are not going well .. Coufal has been a rock and although he wasn’t great he was far better than Antonio , Soucek , Arthur , Lanzini and Bowen who were awful and contributed nothing to the cause . It was, we are told, Moyes decision to sell Haller without a replacement and then not to get a replacement in. Antonio has lost the plot . He has been a shadow of the player he was starting to become and needs a rocket up his backside . COYI .

Completely agree. I am (and always was!) a DM fan, but I am not just disappointed but disgusted by his comments last night. At first I thought he was being sarcastic and tongue in cheek when refusing to blame the joke that is Anthony Taylor. Then when he tore a strip off Vlad I was flabagasted. Thanks DM for completely undermining most of the fan base as we stave off the Arsenal fans justification for the penalty and sending off.. DM, shame on you. VC, head up, we are with you.
