Darren Randolph would love to play at Anfield every week!
Yesterday’s Hammers hero of the 4th Round FA Cup Tie was involved in the 3-0 League win early season and was instrumental in keeping our unbeaten seasonal record intact yesterday.
And he revealed Slav had told him early in the week he would be playing regardless of Adrian returning home for the birth of his first child.
He told www.whufc.com: “We have had two decent results this season at Anfield. We have had two good performances from the team and I like coming here!
“I am happy to play whenever I can. The manager told me at the start of the week that I was going to start as it was the FA Cup. I am just happy to play.
“Every game is an opportunity for me. When I get the chance I need to show the manager what I can do. It would be nice to have a good cup run.
“We are full of confidence going into the replay. We are in good form and want to keep winning. It builds confidence. We have already had two victories against Liverpool this season and we came here thinking we could get a result.
“It is never easy playing at Anfield and they have a good squad. It was always going to be tough regardless of who was playing and they have a point to prove if they are not getting much game time.”
He added: “Adrian still travelled up with us but he had to leave first thing on Saturday. I told him to text me when something happens.
“The first I knew about him leaving was at 5am in the morning when he sent me a text message saying he was on his way to the airport.
“I told him to let me know if there are developments. I will keep in touch with him to see how he is going.”
From memory, I think Randolph made some crucial errors in our European games, but since then has been truly magnificent. Personally, I think that Adrian and Randolph should now be rotated, so that both are in tip-top readiness should one of them get an injury or red card. Maybe you could argue that his superb performance yesterday demonstrates that rotation is not necessary. Whichever, I am delighted that we have 2 superb goalies, and we must credit Sullivan for buying Randloph who ON PAPER looked a very bad prospect at that time.
Let’s face it, the players are the very core asset, and Sullivan has brought in bargain after bargain, and mostly supporting the manager’s requests: It is astonishing! Cressie, both goalies, Payet, Lanzini…most of the team! Compare that to the exhorbitant waste of the Iclandic era (Lungberg and Dyer costing…excuse me,..WASTING a total of £35m), and WHU was in crisis. Now look at us! The 2 Davids and Brady: what a force, with a manager who I would prefer over Guariola! I can easily see us being top 4 regulars and PL champions in years to come…might take a while, but the momentum is there. Dream on Happy Hammers; it is safe to! Just like my dreams, they DON’T fade and die:
How about this?
“Just like my dreams, they RISE AND RISE,
Fortune’s ON IT’S WAY,
Good times here to stay.
I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Blowing bubbles all the way”….
??
Let’s get this failure stuff out of our DNA!
COYI!
After all the worries before he played earlier in the season he now looks a class act,
Just think people wanted Rob Green back WHY,
Hope he keeps the pressure on Adrien all season but the Spanish stopper will be back and rightly to as he also has been brilliant and not just this season
Well done Darren
Hope the Baby comes without any problems
