One year on to the day our Boleyn closed its doors forever – and here is the perfect anniversary video!

|

It was a year ago to the day – May 10th – that West Ham United played it’s last ever game at our Β legendary home of Upton Park.

It resulted in a fantastic 3-2 win over Manchester United but the sheer joy and sadness of that night could be measured in virtually equal parts as the doors of our spiritual home closed forever.

And today ClaretandHugh marks this sad anniversary with a magnificent video produced by passionate lifelong supporter NIGEL KAHN.

Set to the lyrics of one of the greatest pop songs ever written The Sound of Silence, this is a real tear jerker but we make no excuses – such moments in history have to be honoured.

Boleyn – Β our old friend – where there was once bubbles there is now only the sound of silence.

Thanks Nigel – totally brilliant production!

That blew me away Nigel, nice work. As someone that supported the move I actually thought you kept it pretty respectful to both camps. Well apart from that little shot of the scarf lmao. You wouldn’t let it lie would you?

Great video i must say.No one will laugh at this its superb….but they may laugh at some of the ott reactions it creates with some commenting like they have just stood on a landmine not watched a video of our old football ground….

Lmao πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Up yours Rads! I’m off to get me foot seen to.

I looked up the origional song on google to see what the history was and it said a reworked version was bought out last year by The Demented, or Deranged, something like that and it got to #1 and I thought hey Nigel has released the song already πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Poop sorry mate. Don’t get nasty 1,000 appoligies. That’s what happens when you’re washing packing and reading all at once. Sunshine and Sangras here I come.

Here’s to 6 points v Pool and the other Clarets. I also hope Lanzini scores a couple as I want him to get top scorer.

Even as a supporter of the need to ‘move on’ to the next level, that brought back some memories for sure….great vid that I have also forwarded on to many already.

  • HamburgHammer says:

Great video that, real tearjerker material there, great work by the gatekeeper of the Cockney Inclusion Zone. I am still grateful I could attend that final game due to the courtesy of a certain cabbie from Dagenham.
The Boleyn will never be forgotten by whoever watched a game in there.
112 years, it had a good innings I would say…

  • GW says:

Talking of memories what the hell has happened to our f**a chasing loveable Italian lotherio Matte? πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Great video indeed, certainly stirred up some emotions, like others I support the move but having been a kid and grown up on the terraces I have a lot of great memories from inside and outside the ground COYI !!!

  • kevin says:

That was probably the saddest video I have ever seen . It brought back so many memories that my mind was left in a state of Happiness / Confusion / Dreams / Moments of joy and moments of glum / moments of rapture and moments of despair but , with a deep desire to make the LS our New Home and a place to plant New History and Grow . Forever onward and forward should be our Battle Cry .
That was a wonderful video set to a sweet beautiful sound track .
I must admit it choked me up somewhat .
QUESTION : will that video get to be released for sale to the Fans , Hugh ?? .
    Cos I , for one , would definitely buy a copy .
Is there a way to download it , maybe !! .

Humbled with all the kind words on here, glad you all enjoyed it

  • Stratford E20 says:

I’m glad that I watched it because it reinforced my feelings that I am so happy to see the place flattened and get away from there. I know that I’m in a minority but I am very happy with the move to the new stadium. Just got to make it our home now.
