Pellegrini may have just one game left

|

Moyes

West Ham’s owners currently have every alarm bell in their heads ringing after the defeat against Arsenal at the London Stadium.

But there will be no change – if at all – until after Saturdays game against Southampton despite the club now being embroiled head-on into a relegation battle.

It is a crucial game for manager Manuel Pellegrini and one from which he must take something if his hopes of remaining at the club are to remain alive.

Defeat at bottom three-placed Southampton could almost certainly be the final straw for a board who will need to dig up 12 months compensation for Pellegrini and his backroom staff if the Hammers amounting to around £8m-£10m should they wield the axe.

Saints will leapfrog the Irons should they win at St Mary’s but with Aston Villa at Sheffield United, a slide into the bottom three for the Irons looks unlikely.

However, a defeat would make the Hammers board’s job in deciding to keep the Chilean in place very difficult indeed and the sack would come as no surprise.

Should it happen the club will be right back in the position it was after dismissing Slaven Bilic with a fire fighting manager required to drive the team out of relegation trouble.

And that could see the likes of David Moyes, Tony Pulis or even Sam Allardyce back in the frame should any of them fancy staking their futures – such as they might be – on successfully achieving such an objective.

Always comes down to money watford spurs arsenal everton all have sacked there managers for failure on the pitch no not us we wait and wait been saying this for weeks go for kovac go all out he turnt frankfurt around and was chased by big clubs and eventually went to munich his young plays youths and also got the best out of haller and with the players we currently have players like fornals anderson haller would all flourish if we dont go for him hell end uo at ars or everton doing a brilliant job.
A question if ot was to happen and we got relegated would the owners sell up as all these billionaires are intrested in championship teams.

Totally agree Bubbles, Moyes done a decent job and most fans in our area of the 1966 seats were happy for him to get a 2 year contract. But no, the board had to bring in the Chilean, and now look at us.

Hello , Bubbles . Long time no hear . It has to be Moyes for me also .

What is the logic of given him Southampton game..If he wins what ? He suddenly safe again till next game .our owners are true idiot’s they did this with avram grant .Just get rid .other clubs have reacted why can’t we ..oh as always money .they deserve relegation absolute failures who don’t care despite what some think .Just like ashley at Newcastle. Happy to stay up and coin it in .

  • Paul Lewis says:

Another game too many, he should have gone after we got beat at home by the Geordies, get rid!!!!

  • Kevin says:

“ Only one game left “ , why ! . Should be gone already . He should’ve been sacked yesterday or this morning . But please , don’t bring Howe to the LS . Has proven nothing to note at Bournemouth in reality . Except maybe keeping them in the Premiership . But apart from that nothing . We need a manager that understands the Premiership and the Fans .
Moyes is the only choice imo . Would definitely change our formation and improve our defense . Pelligrini offers no urgency or surprises and is tactically static . Almost halfway through the season and still playing a stubborn one up front lone striker ffs .

  • AspiEd says:

Because, after this Saturday, there are 12 days before the next game……..

They will already be working on the replacement….

    • Kevin says:

Hope you’re right , AspiED . It’s a hugely sad and miserable place in which we find ourselves
I don’t think for a moment the board are being Lazy ,, it’s that awful word ; Money .
They had high ambition and Pelligrini has let them and everyone else down massively .

    • Hammerkip says:

WHY 1 more game….Jesus f!!!!!g Christ what is the point…..we are such a shambles once again..nothing against Sullivan and co but come on sell.up and give someone else a go

  • Finn Luckie says:

Same old names being thrown in time and time again. A load of ‘has beens’. I think a leaf needs to be taken out of Chelsea’s book. Lampard was a brave choice but quite obviously the right choice. A young modern day manager with a modern philosophy. It has to be said that his approach at Chelsea is spot on blooding the young, fresh and hungry lads from the academy.
On that note, I would prefer to take a risk on Steven Gerrard.
Football is changing and the managers who are currently succeeding are of a similar mould, turning to youth rather than looking across Europe.
Rodgers, Lampard, Klopp and Pochettino can all take credit for putting faith in home grown youth and it’s paying off. Southgate is the same with the national team.
I would prefer to see West Ham playing the likes of Diangana, Holland, Powell and Johnson then Snodgrass, Sanchez, Yarmolenko, Masuaku and even Noble. Snodgrass and Noble have a place on the squad to blood those youngsters with a decent work ethic and passion but do not have the pace to be playing first choice or week in week out.

Like most here I don’t see the point in giving him the Southampton game which we will lose anyway. Might as well put one of the coaches in charge giving us enough time to appoint a permanent manager by Boxing day. To look at another Moyes or Allardyce on temporary basis will not work and will simply anger the fans even more.

  • matty53 says:

    hi hugh
Have you put pulis in the frame just to wind us up
ps agree with you Ed and i dont think he can survive now no matter what
we did not play that bad last night but we still could not kill off the worst
Arsenal team i have ever seen

Reminds me of the Death row inmates who keep getting an 11th hour stay of execution.Even if we win handsomely at Southampton (now theres blind optimism) the same problems are there ie a 66 year old manager who is never going to change all of a sudden.Has already proved to be as stubborn as a mule and one more win is just protracting the problem and leaving us with less matches to fix it.Thats it i have had my say.

  • zahama says:

I agree with those who say he should go now. Put Halajko in charge for the Southampton game – it is a six pointer and losing it could have disasterous consequences

I keep asking myself how did Pelle do it at Man City and finally I came up with part of the answer – Yaya Toure – and he has not seen the need for a midfield power house – in fact he made little effort to keep Kouyate who was the closest we had to that and then never replaced him

I would love Moyes as never wanted him to be fired (or contract not renewed) but am not sure that we will get him – he is now odds on for the Everton job

One thing I agree with Pelle (and Marco Silva) – it is lazy and cheap journalism to ask a manager “so when are you going to be fired”

  • mark wiggins says:

Ok he’s got to go but the players also need to look at themselves . They might not want to play for MP but whatever they should play for pride and the fans no matter what . Do the fans not matter then lads .

  • johnham1 says:

In my opinion all Pelle needs to do to get out of this mess is to pick his best players in the best formation, that is a 3-5-2. Haller and Antonio up top with Anderson. The reason he will be sacked is because he wont do this, he does not have the brains to realise this is all he needs to do to get the best of his players. If he continues to play Fredericks (OMG the worst full back in the PL), Noble so past it, Snodgrass just not good enough, and Fornals as a forward he will be rightly sacked after the Southampton game.

  • Hammer64 says:

God-at one time I used to find football the best escape from Brexit!!! This club is making the House of Commons look decisive. Get it Done.
