Report: Moyes interest in Preston North End defender

|

According to The Sunday Mirror   David Moyes is interested in signing Preston North End centre back Ben Davies this week.

The report plays on the manager’s ‘strong links’ at Preston, where he was both a player and manager.

That connection saw Moyes raid Preston for Jordan Hugill in January 2018 for a reported £9m who was later sold for £3m plus add-ons.

North End are seeking £10million for Davies, with Sheffield United scared off according to the Sheffield Star.

Given that Davies is out of contract at the end of the season, Preston could come under late pressure to sell him before Friday’s domestic EFL transfer deadline.

The centre-back can also play as a left-back. Davies signed with the youth system at Preston North End after being spotted playing for Furness Rovers aged 11 spending loan periods at York City, Tranmere Rovers, Southport, Newport County and Fleetwood Town.   The 25-year-old has played over 130 first-team appearances for Preston North End.
