Same as last season for City game

|

David Moyes has picked a team that he could have picked last season against Manchester City!

The Hammers open their Premier League campaign against the champions at the London Stadium.

However, none of the club’s four summer signings make the team, with Nayef Aguerd injured, and Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes and Gianluca Scamacca all on the bench.

This was largely to be expected, with Moyes confirming in the week that he did not expect Scamacca to be fit after joining from Sassuolo.

It means that Mikey Antonio leads the line against Pep Guardiola’s men.

In what may be a warning of what is to come unless the club dips back into the transfer market, Aaron Cresswell looks set to play as a centre-back, with Ben Johnson drafted into play at left back.

Full West Ham XI: Fabianski; Coufal, Zouma, Cresswell, Johnson; Rice, Soucek; Lanzini, Bowen, Fornals; Antonio. Subs: Areola, Randolph, Ashby, Coventry, Downes, Okoflex, Vlasic, Benrahma, Scamacca.
