The London Stadium blame game

|

police4Today at 10am is the latest episode of the London Stadium blame game as career politicians from the London Assembly look blame anyone except themselves for the security and policing issues that have surround the former Olympic Stadium since August.

West Ham’s invitation must have got lost in the post as they are no club representatives on attendee list and that itself is a clue who they will look to stitch up during today’s meeting. The stadium owners, operators, police and Westfield are all represented but West Ham will not be able to defend themselves from any accusations and statements made the stakeholders invited or politicians eager to make a name for themselves and climb the political ladder.

I am sure there will be no mention what part Ken Livingstone, Tessa Jowell, Lord Coe or Boris Johnson played in getting us to the point we are at now, instead expect to hear this is purely a football problem and particular I expect them to point to the behaviour of the West Ham supporters.

We are caught in the cross fire of a political hot potato of which the politicians what to take no responsibility whatsoever. I guarantee this afternoon’s and tomorrow’s media headlines will be about West Ham and the stadium again as more details are revealed today.

The invited guests are:

  • David Goldstone, Chief Executive, London Legacy Development Corporation
  • Sheila Roberts, Strategic Enforcement Manager, London Borough of Newham
  • Linda Lennon, Chief Executive Officer, London Stadium 185
  • Alan Skewis, Director, E20 LLP
  • Commander BJ Harrington, Metropolitan Police Service
  • Peter Miller, Chief Operating Officer, Westfield Stratford City

The meeting will take place on Thursday 1 December from 10:00am in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

Those who can’t attend in person can watch a live webcast at 10am https://www.london.gov.uk/police-and-crime-committee-2016-12-01
