Time to do the right thing – play the boy Pelle

|

Some of us have seen more than enough of Nathan Holland to know that he should be a long way in front of Pablo Fornals for first team selection.

We also know that he is clearly well ahead of Albien Ajeti  and with him receiving a big reference from his former mentor Terry Westley on these pages yesterday his time should be here.

Holland is a breath of fresh air. Yes, it a big jump from under 23s football to the first team but it’s one that he is ready to make – of that I’m sure.

Westley made a very valid point when saying that in circumstances where key players are missing the game in a fortnight’s time presents a perfect opportunity for the lad.

It could also demonstrate whether we have the answer to some of our problems or whether we should recall Grady Diangana in the window. Personally, given all the circumstances, should he not get his chance you begin to wonder whether he ever will!

We are at a stage in the Pellegrini managerial regime where if he decides to go again with the players who have been turning in a series of miserable performances he could well be standing in a bigger hole than the one he has been busily digging over the last seven games.

Nathan is likely to be involved at Exeter City tomorrow night in the Leasing.Com Trophy match where again he will banging on the door for his chance.

For me, given the appalling performances of our first team over recent weeks there’s not even a question to be asked.

Just play him Pelle! It’s not even a brave decision to make. His time is here.

I agree that it is time for Holland to be picked, can’t do any worse than we are getting now, also if Johnson is fit put him on the bench and also maybe Scully there as well so we options to change a number of things about against Spurs. We need to get moving upwards again.

Would bench Anderson too and put Joe Powell as a number 10.

Agree definitely give Nathan a go – Fornals just doesn’t seem ready. Also no to Yarmo on current form. Importantly. We must defend from the front in transition – the attackers must press to allow the defence to reset.

Won’t happen. Pellegrini too stubborn and set in his ways. Like Avram Grant, he will continue to make the same mistakes in the deluded belief that it will all come right eventually.

Try Holland and Powell. How much worse can it get?

Don’t think it will happen. I don’t think playing Holland will solve much anyway. The problem is the manager, goalkeeper, We can’t defend, and Haller & some others look they don’t want to be there. Big problems I’m afraid and I can’t see Holland, Powell or any other promising u23 changing our season.

Would it hurt anything to try?

This seems odd to me. The Roberto vs Trott piece seems to agree that Trott is too inexperienced to replace Roberto, yet Holland, with no first team experience, is ready for the relegation fight. Don’t get me wrong, if he’s good enough he should be playing. However, Diang is on loan having played 17 games for us last season with, until Lanzini’s injury, no thought of recalling him. There is also a call for Cullen to be recalled from his loan spell to replace the injured Noble. I think there are too many rose tinted glasses when it come’s to the youngsters. A mix of experience and youthful zest is required for relegation dog fights, pushing for europe and the title. I certainly don’t think that an unbalanced youthful side will get us out of the trouble we have somehow dug ourselves into. Lets face it, having just beaten Man U seven games ago, we where full of joy at a push for the european places on offer. Now with Fab being injuried we cannot buy a win. Worse still, we are creating very few goal scoring oppotunities so are making incredibly hard for ourselves before we have even kick a ball. Confidence is low. We need Haller to score one off his backside and the midfield to give some protection to the defense. Stick with the cuurent team but bring back Oggy instead of The General. This is a team which should not be anywhere near relegation but we have heard that before with WHU teams!

He is to stubborn to play the kids ..or they would of played by now ..even though it could do us good ,he knows his job is on the line and won’t risk playing Hollander or any number of our kids even though they would do alot more than the any of the first team at the min …I just wished he would resign even though he won’t ….this won’t end until he is gone ..
