TV pundits Roy Keane and Ian Wright praised West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek during ITV coverage of England v Czech Republic on Tuesday evening.
“He is a hell of a player, a proper old-fashioned, box-to-box midfielder,” Keane said.
“He’s got a goal in him and he’s had a good season at West Ham. I bet David Moyes is delighted with him.
“He’s very good at attacking the ball and getting goals but also at set-pieces, he is an excellent player and a good old-fashioned central midfielder, I love to see it.”
Wright added: “His stamina and energy is unbelievable.”
In fact, the word West Ham has not been used so much in TV commentary of an International football tournament since the Hammers won the world cup in 1966.
Ian Wright joined West Ham in the summer of 1998 for £500,000. He spent fifteen months as a West Ham player, scoring the winner on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday.
During his spell there he made headlines when he vandalised the referee’s dressing room at Upton Park after being sent off during a match against Leeds United. He retired from professional football in the year 2000.
HANDS OFF!!!!!!!!!
just putting it out there
Interesting that no-one remarked on the fact that Rice being replaced by Henderson changed the squad from an entertaining, attacking team to an uninspiring group of individuals without purpose.
Would it be nice for Henderson to get a goal – sure. But really?
