Westley exclusive: No relegation for the Hammers

|

ClaretandHugh’s exclusive blogger Terry Westley has been following events at the club very closely and here gives his view on the Pellegrini sacking and the appointment of David Moyes. Tel was talking to Hugh Southon

In the end it was inevitable – the players had lost faith, the fans too and Manuel Pellegrini could see no way out. A change had to be made.

Is David Moyes the right man to take over?  I have worked with him and he’s the most meticulous guy I have ever seen in the job. At this stage he is the correct choice for me.

Will West Ham be relegated? No, not in my book. David Moyes may not excite but he will keep them up. I have no doubt about that.

Today against Bournemouth , I expect him to go three at the back. There may have not been too much time to sort that on the training ground but I reckon we will see Oggy, Balbuena and Diop at the back regardless.

We have to stop the goals going in and that to me is the way David will address the problem with Fredericks and Masuaku  playing the wing back roles.

Rice and Noble will probably be in front of them with possibly Lanzini behind the front pair up top, Antonio and Haller.

He will be looking for an immediate reaction – a couple of wins and the fans and club becoming united again.

Sadly, when things go wrong there is instantly a section of the fans who blame the board for the move to the new stadium and the expectations that brought.

I am out of the club now but it has to be said they tried. A lot of money was spent on Pellegrini and in the window which didn’t work but I’m not sure many would have disagreed with the policy at that time.

This was a world class manager with a pedigree from the likes of Real Madrid. Forwhatever reason it didn’t work at West Ham and I’m not sure why. But no blame can be attached to the club for having a right go at the time.

Now, however, it’s time for us all to get behind Moyes and the squad. The fans are having to swallow a lot right now and I get that.

But I believe given all the circumstances the right man is in charge and there will be no relegation come May.

    • Dave andrews says:

Spot on boys attitude determination self belief confidence just add consistency and we could still make Europe one very happy hammer like so many many others let’s go for a pint or two with smiles on our facea

    • Perhaps you can be a little more original next time. I’ve only heard that around 200 times. Maybe u don’t understand the rules here. Personal abuse of anyone is instant dismissal so why are you here troll?

Very helpful. It’s great that you’re here; the world needs more negative mouth breathers…

  • Numbersurfer says:

I think the players will get a bit of re-awakening, if they haven’t already. Gone is the quiet man. Watch DM on the touchline letting them know what is expected. He will succeed and steady the ship. That, after all the big spending by our board, is what is needed now. Come On You Irons

  • B.Benning says:

Lets all get behind WEST HAM AND the MANAGER for once as FANS
Instead of useless comments on the OWNERS. who are doing there best

    • James Gunn says:

Yes, I’m sure they’re doing their best 😂😂😂 5 scouts for a Premier League Club when teams like Brentford have 25+ 😂😂😂 They moan about spending lots of money on transfers, yet don’t invest in a better scouting set-up which would find them better players for less money!

  • DB69WHU says:

Hopefully Pearce will be back on the staff, would love to see the faces of those not putting in the effort & receiving his heartfelt opinion! 3 points today & no snowflakes allowed COYI`s

  • The Cat says:

I for one am fed up of the continuous comments regarding the owners, their ambition, the stadium, David Moyes appointment, who he will or won’t buy….. repeat repeat repeat….
I know that everybody connected with the club wants the very best for the club including the owners. All these moaning people are mistaken, we are NOT Citeh, Man U or Chelski….. This is West Ham, get on board and support the club in a positive manner or take the next exit. I’m West Ham, like everybody on here, and I will “Support” this club through thick and thin forever!

    • But Cat I thought they own football clubs to see them fail, lose money and eventually go skint. Silly me – you mean the board actually want to succeed. That’s pretty unbelievable eh? LOL. Yep repeat, repeat, repeat. Boring boring boring

    • D says:

Nobody’s fault but the players once they cross that white line there is nothing managers or the board can do if the players haven’t the energy or enthusiasm to play then the board manager or the fans can do about it just keep it going boys up the irons

  • Kevin Cummins says:

We are in retreat, last thing you need as an army is deserters and negatives, support the colours, might hate the owners but utd we stand utd we fall,, get Ginge in as defensive coach and as back up for noble in the dressing room, still think he could do a great job as unpct sub for last 20 mins when we alwaus seem to be all over the place at the back

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

I too am tired of the constant negativity being spewed on here. New Year, new manager. Change is always good and I can’t wait to see how we improve and avoid the drop.

We’ve never been too good to go down, and people need to wake up to the realities of our situation. The reality is that everyone is trying to succeed. No-one gets it right all the time so calm down. And why would anyone ‘hate’ the owners? It’s ridiculous. You might disagree with their policies, but to ‘hate’ them says more about you. Let’s get behind the club we all love and leave the dramas at home. COYI
